Good afternoon, r/Lexington!
My name is Emma Curtis and it’s the honor of my life to serve as the Councilwoman for Lexington’s 4th District.
I’m currently nearing the end of my first term in office and seeking re-election for a second term because I believe that Lexington belongs to ALL of us—not just a select few.
You can learn more about where I stand on the issues facing District 4 and all of Lexington here: On The Issues
You can learn more about what I’ve done in my first term here: Emma's Record
And I’m here to answer any questions you have about our campaign, what’s going on at City Hall, or anything else!
Ask away!
PS—There’s been a lot of nastiness and pettiness going around during this election cycle, so please try to be kind and respectful to each other here, even when we disagree 💙

Check out the preview of tomorrow's special Budget, Finance & Economic Development Committee (BFED)!
Council Member At-Large Chuck Ellinger, who serves as Vice Chair of the committee, shares details about this year's $6 million unallocated "fund balance."
Due, in part, to strong employment numbers in Lexington, the City collected $6 million more in revenue than anticipated in FY26; tomorrow, Council will determine what to do with those funds. There are proposals totaling $16 million in requests.
Be sure to tune in to learn more!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a medical malpractice attorney? One that will actually talk to me because I have records, pictures and all kinds of notes and so far all I can talk to is an intake person and don't get to explain all that happened.
I was repeatedly gaslit and given various diagnosis over the last 2 years with no tests, scans or imaging to support those diagnosis and repeatedly told the cause of my pain and symptoms was anxiety and other bs. Requests for scans were denied and requests to call other specialists to expedite the appointments I was waiting on was never done. It was very obvious looking at me that there was something wrong. I went to the ER because my symptoms got worse and they found the cause, a massive tumor. Lost an organ because the tumor was so big it damaged the organ.

$150 an hour for replacing oxygen sensors and spark plugs? Who else in town works on Mini Coopers. Asking before I need my next repair.
(And before you answer: Do it yourself after watching a youTube video; I have a terrible history repairing cars. I'm willing to pay a sane amount for car repair but $150 an hour seems too much.)

(Video quality suffered a bit in the beginning due to overheating and then it got dark during the parade.)
Okay... so "USA Today named a Top 10 Halloween Destination and Oprah Magazine featured in the Top 25 Best Halloween Festivals Across the U.S." Do you think it lived up to the hype?

Is the best place to go in town for Volvo service the dealership, or do you all have other recommendations? Needing a 35,000 mile check up and maybe some other work done.

Hey all! I’m browsing around for a serving position in Lexington, I currently am in Richmond just south however I am willing to drive. Was wondering if you all had any suggestions for places to apply to? Preferably near the interstate so my commute is a bit easier 😅. I’ve thought about the Harry’s / Malones right off Hamburg, but also have been considering Ted’s Montana Grill (although I have never eaten here and not sure how busy it would be.) Any help / suggestions would be great, Thank you!

hello! I am attending the nurse hiring event (as a New Grad RN) with UK this Fall. I know interviews are scheduled from Oct 28-Nov 4th, does anyone have any insight or past experiences about when I may expect to hear back about decisions/offers after the hiring fair?

I lived here since I was five (26 now), and I have yet to smell the peanut butter from the JIF factory in the air like all of the other people do. Am I just noseblind to it? LOL

I’m looking for more tasty options in Lexington. What buffets have to-go containers where you pay by weight? I hate the places per-container with tiny containers.

Hello! I’m 24 and have no friends in Lexington. Would anyone wanna go with me to The Roxy this Halloweekend? I’ve never been. Please let me know! I’m super fun when I’m drunk (I usually drink at home).

I love Halloween, I love dressing up. So do my kids. And my husband is amazingly game - this year I put in more work than I ever have and knocked it out of the park if I do say so myself. Problem is I never really know what we are going to do once I got them finished. Sure, we’ll go trick or treating and in the past we have went and wandered around downtown during the parade - not at all satisfying. Maybe if I participated in the performance but for onlookers I feel it leaves a lot to be desired.
Surely there are opportunities for advanced costumers to gather and ooh and awe at each others finery?

I was there last night for the first time. It low-key had a poop smell. Originally, I thought someone crop-dusted as they walked by, but it smelled the whole night.
