Lady Stoneheart in the show

• Upvotes

Catelyn was easily my favorite character in Seasons 1-3 so I was pretty sad she got killed off in such a horrific way and even more so when I found out in the books she gets revived to take revenge on the Freys as the badass Lady Stoneheart.

Personally, I think the ideal way they could have had Michelle Fairley return as Lady Stoneheart while keeping the show largely similar but having a lot more impactful scenes with Catelyn is by having her take over Beric Dondarrions role in Seasons 6-8, he’s cool, but having Catelynn as the leader of the brotherhood would make many scenes way better imo.

In general this version of Lady Stoneheart would probably be quite different from the books version, she’d be able to talk for one, just a bit more hoarse than usual, and wouldn’t be quite as ruthless, she’d still be Catelyn, but she would be far less noble and acts much more standoffish and crass, willing to do whatever to get revenge honor be damned, only warming up around her trueborn children. She’d also would be a much better fighter after a long time training with the brotherhood to use a flaming sword like Beric did.

So essentially just replace Beric in all his scenes with Catelyn, with the characters naturally reacting in appropriate ways to see her alive and the dialogue being adjusted to match her instead of “miserable shit” Beric.

Extra scenes & small differences would include:

-Brotherhood is mentioned as being led by the mysterious “Lady Stoneheart” when it is discussed by the Freys

-The name stems from her encouraging the Riverfolk to be resiliant and fearless in the face of certain death to withstand the Freys tyranny

-Sandor is offered a place in the brotherhood only after he tells Catelyn of how he helped her daughter Arya

-The brotherhood dont ride north yet as they dont know about the coming threat of the White Walkers

-Jaqen H’Ghar says to Arya he’s arranged for her to meet with someone she knows but wont expect when she arrives in Saltpans before she leaves

-An extra scene in the S6 finale has Arya encounter Sandor & the brotherhood and try to run until she comes across her mother and they share a tearful reunion

-Another extra scene has mother and daughter catching each other up before Arya reveals her face-swapping ability which Catelynn realizes will allow them to take full revenge on the Freys

-Lady Stoneheart is the one who kills and bakes Walders sons into a pie and confronts him while he is eating it, giving a speech about his betrayal and showing him what she has done in response before Arya slices his throat while she watches in a mirror of her own death.

-Aryas poisoning of the Frey heirs is accompanied by Lady Stoneheart, the Hound, the brotherhood, and an army of battle ready Riverfolk massacring the Frey Garrison outside much like how they did to Robbs army in a great offscreen bloodbath that is shown when Arya exits the castle.

-Catelyn accomponies Arya to the inn and meets hot pie but refuses to go with her when she wishes to go to Winterfell now that its been liberated, choosing revenge against the lannisters much to Aryas disappointment.

-An extra scene has Catelyn have a dream about Beric who tells her that the next coming war will be in the north. She awakes and a conversation with Sandor about Arya convinces her to ride north after all.

-Arya tells Sansa their mother is alive

-The scene with the brotherhood riding to the wall and coming across the destroyed farm is moved to a later episode to signify the long journey

-Petyr tries manipulate Sansa into believing Aryas claim about their mother is a lie, as he does not believe it himself.

-Jon is much more eager to have the brotherhood join them upon seeing Catelyn is their leader, and the scene about discussing death is a lot more impactful with it being Catelyn & Jon considering their history and what they now share in common.

-Catelyn is devastated at being forced to leave Jon behind to escape on Drogon and is very relieved to see him returned to them alive at Eastwatch.

-Instead of going back to the Wall Catelyn has another vision of Beric saying her children are in danger, so she instead returns to Winterfell to reunite with Sansa Arya & Bran and helps with the collective realization that Petyr orchestrated the entire War

-Catelyn comes in at the end of Petyrs trial much to his shock and bewilderment and is the one to deduce that the dagger Littlefinger claimed to her belonged to Tyrion actually belonged to him all along and is especially scournful to him for murdering her sister.

-Catelyn is the one to slice Petyrs throat with the dagger for his betrayal.

-Brienne has a reunion with Catelyn at the beginning of S8 and apologizes for failing her only for Cat to say that if anything she’s the one who failed

-Catelyn has a tense reunion with Tyrion at Winterfell and also helps Jon negotiate with the Mormonts regarding the alliance with Daenerys but voices doubts regarding the Lannisters army and whether it will arrive.

-Aryas scene with Gendry has her also introducing him to her mother before she leaves with the Brotherhood to ride to Last Hearth to seek aid from Ned Umber.

-Catelyn helps defuse the tensions between Tormund and Edds group at Last Hearth and is the one the burn Ned Umber as a wight.

-Upon Catelyns return she is outraged to see Jaime and holds him against a tree at swordpoint but Sansa commands her to stop to show she is now the true Lady Stark of Winterfell.

-Jaime apologizes to Cat for everything his foolish affair with his sister has done to her family, and notes that her daughters got back to her on there own.

-Jon tells Cat how Benjen was the one who saved him, leading to Cat fully embracing Jon as her son

-Catelyn takes Berics place in the Battle Of Winterfell as the one to sacrifice herself to save Arya from the Wights and dies her final death when Arya slays the Night King and is burned the next day.

-Catelyn now being gone for good makes the Stark familys declaration that they are the last of the starks more impactful

Phew! Thats a lot I’m sure but I just had this idea/outline for a while now and wanted to share it, lemme know what ya’ll think? Would the last 3 seasons be improved at all in any of your guys’s eyes with this inclusion?

Was Robert initially meant to be king after the rebellion ?

• Upvotes

Title. When the rebellion initially started did Robert ever come out and say “I will be the new king after this”? Or could any one of Ned, Robert, or maybe even Jon Arryn have declared themselves king once the war was over?

Could the Targaryens have suffered the same fate as Hodor?

We have a concrete example of how the future can influence the past. Bran's actions determined Hodor's entire fate. Now, let's think about the Targaryens, whose seemingly spontaneous and bizarre decisions ended up changing the course of history in incredibly significant ways.

  • Daenys the Dreamer SUDDENLY has a prophetic dream and convinces her entire family to leave Valyria just before the Doom and settle as close to Westeros as possible.
  • Aegon the Conqueror SUDDENLY decides to conquer an entire continent and become its sole ruler, even though his ancestors had shown little interest in the west, preferring to focus on the intrigues of the Free Cities.
  • Aegon IV SUDDENLY decides to legitimize all his bastards, and how convenient that one of them eventually ends up beyond the Wall.
  • Rhaegar Targaryen SUDDENLY decides to abduct Lyanna Stark, which leads to the death of Brandon Stark, which leads to Eddard marrying Catelyn, which leads to Bran being born.

Am I the only one who sees a pattern here? What do you all think?

Stannis Bannockburn

• Upvotes

Imagine if Stannis didn’t march like an idiot to get slaughtered by the boltons but created a pike army with wood from outside winterfell and did a braveheart. Imagine how epic it would have been if his men were faltering but stannis, at the front, used his mannis special ability to keep them in line and at the last minute they lifted their pikes and ended the bolton cavalry. One can dream

Would Walder Frey have still betrayed Robb even if he did honour his agreement to marry his daughter?

What I mean is if Robb did everything as he does in the show but doesn’t marry Talissa would it have actually changed the outcome.

Walder Frey is shown to be a cautious man and when he could tell that the war was shifting in favour of the Lannisters with the Karstarks abandoning Robb, losing Jamie, the iron born attacking and the formation of the Lannister/ Tyrell alliance. If Tywin or Roose still approached him with the idea of betrayal then he probably would still have agreed.
If he doesn’t have quibbles over killing his own guests and his king, and doesn’t care about Catlyn killing his wife then would it really make a difference that the king he’s killing is his son in law?
I can imagine that when Robb comes back to the Twins to ask for his army, Walder simply demands that he weds his daughter then and there at the twins in case anything would happen to him in the war and then the red wedding just happens as it did anyway. Or maybe Walder would have waited for Robb to get his wife pregnant then order the Frey troops to turn on Robb or abandon him.

Roose Bolton would still have betrayed him and Walder would have seen the tide turning against him, Robb breaking his oath was really just a convenient pretence that the Freys could use to justify they’re actions.

I always assumed this guy is also a great fighter not just at assassination

Post image

I'll even go extra mile that he is one of the top fighters (just unseen and undiscovered)

-He taught aria not just assassination but also fighting

- you can't teach what you don't know/have

-by the end of the show aria is one of the best fighter alive (able to go toe to toe with brienne)

- so I think it's safe to say jaqhen is on par with the top fighters

[Spoilers] My modified version of the ending of Game of Thrones. Spoiler

In my ending, Jorah Mormont would end the reign of Denaerys Targerayan
Please rate the ending, any constructive criticism is much appreciated

Season 8 e 3 buildup
Jorah Mormont cuts through the undead horde to protect Daenerys in the chaotic courtyard. Nearby, Brienne takes a fatal blow meant for Jorah and gasps, "Protect the realm," before being pulled into the dark. Fueled by grief, Jorah pulls Daenerys to safety just as Arya shatters the Night King.

After the burning of Kings landing
Tyrion stands shattered in the smoking ruins of King's Landing and warns Jorah that Daenerys is a tyrant. Jorah, completely flabbergasted..secretly agrees realizes what he must do to stop the madness. When Jorah asks about a plan, Tyrion replies “No promises."

Throne room
Jorah approaches Daenerys by the shattered throne, addresses her as "Khaleesi," and kills her with a Valyrian steel dagger during a final, tragic embrace. Drogon prepares to incinerate Jorah in revenge, but Jon steps in the way and stands completely unburnt as the dragonfire splits harmlessly around his Targaryen blood. Denied his vengeance, Drogon melts the Iron Throne into slag and flies away into the eastern clouds with Daenerys's body.

Bound in chains, Jorah returns the ancestral greatsword Heartsbane to Samwell Tarly as a final gift before kneeling at the execution block. Grey Worm and the refuses to finish the job shocked by the realization that the Queen's truest protector chose to end her cause. Honoring Ned Stark's law that the man who passes the sentence must swing the sword, Jon draws Longclaw and executes Jorah.

Aftermath
King Aegon Targaryen stands weary by the window of the council chamber as Tyrion hands him a goblet of wine. Tyrion looks down at the courtyard below and murmurs, "You would've done the same, Jon Snow." Jon looks back at him with hollow eyes and replies, "He was like my father—an honorable fool."

TLDR

Brienne dies saving Jorah at Winterfell. In the ashes of King's Landing, Jorah stabs Daenerys out of mercy, calling her "Khaleesi." Jon Snow saves Jorah from Drogon by standing unburnt in the dragonfire, proving his Targaryen lineage before the beast melts the throne. Jorah returns Heartsbane to Samwell Tarly and faces execution; Grey Worm refuses out of respect, forcing Jon to behead him to uphold Ned Stark's law. King Aegon Targaryen rules alongside Tyrion, remembering Jorah as an "honorable fool."

Original idea by myself. Ai was only used to correct grammar as English is not my main language, I apologise if the translation are not correct.

Gracias.

Dragon Inconsistencies

For the first 5 seasons, there was this whole build up of the dragons disobeying Dany and not trusting her anymore (even Drogon), especially after she chains them. But that all suddenly vanishes in season 6 when they burst out of the cave and are suddenly obeying her every command.

I always thought the book scene of Daenerys beating Drogon into submission with a whip was 10x cooler, more logical, and more symbolic than Drogon just being a deux ex machina and flying her away like in the show.

Another thing to mention, their sizes. In the early seasons the dragons grow suuuuuper slowly. However, when Drogon takes Dany to the Dothraki sea, he's the same size as he was at the end of season 5, and then like a few episodes later (after Dany burns the Khals) he's suddenly HUGE, more than double in size.

It just bothered me how the show did the dragons so poorly, I know that they needed to have less screen-time and be less complex for budget and time reasons, but inevitably the chaining of the dragons means nothing.

Oh and the fact that Jon effortlessly claimed Rhaegal like it was nothing and nobody batted an eye. That always pissed me off.

Favorite and least Favorite POVs in the books

My absolute favorite POV is Melisandre. Her magic and her infatuation with her god are my favorite perspective. And hearing the reason she asked for davos's son to stay with her humanized her and I like that. I waited 4 and a half books to finally see the world through her ruby tinted eyes. I knew it was coming inhad watched videos about her and it didnt disappoint

Least favorite is basically anything to do with the iron born. I won't skip them entirely but I read quickly when a Yara or a victarion chapter comes up.

You're Robert Baratheon. How do you handle the incident at the Trident?

Post image
551 Upvotes

You don't have the viewer's knowledge of what actually happened. You're Robert Baratheon in this scene. You have Joffrey's version of events, Arya's version, and Sansa claiming she doesn't remember much. Ned is furious that his daughter was brought before the king instead of being taken to him, while Cersei demands Lady's death. How do you handle the entire situation?
