1980 CB650z. I got the bike in August after it had been sat and not running in 12 years. I got it running in a fashion and noticed a fair few oil leaks from the top end, I’ve done a top end rebuild all new gaskets and solved the leaks. I’ve fitted new coil packs, new spark plugs, oil, oil filter, new carb-engine rubber boots as had the carbs and jets out to clean them all, pilot jets were particularly blocked.
However I cannot seem to get the bike to have a steady idle or return to idle, I have set the air mixture screws at baseline 1.5 turns out from lightly seated and been backing them out 1/2 a turn since. Currently at 3.5 turns out and this is the best it’s been but I can’t get it any better? Does anyone have any advice?
I’ve read it can be the slides sticking or the timing unit springs but seeking some advice first.

I have a 2012 Vulcan vaquero . I recently changed brake pads over to ebc . They have been working great for 3-4 weeks .Now all of a sudden I lose break pressure while moving. First pull will be extra long travel on the lever or no pressure. The brakes then pump right back up . Fluid is not leaking nor is it low . Brakes work flawlessly while sitting still . Anyone ever have a similar issue?

My son bought a 2009 RMZ-450. He bought it with a broken kickstarter shaft. He and his friend bump-started it and rode around the block, but it would not rev up. A little digging and we found the bike ingested a timing chain guide.

When opened, it looked bad, like someone ran it dry of oil. This triggered us to rebuild the top end. New cylinder, piston, rings, polish the bearings, etc. Rod play checked, any spalling removed, valves lapped (I think; maybe) and shimmed, timing chain guides replaced, and we inspected and cleaned the oil strainers, oil passages, oil pump, and crankcase. (Pieces of the failed guide could have circulated through the lubrication system.).

We got everything reassembled and fired up the bike. After 8 kicks, it started, ran smoothly, idled well, etc. After half a dozen starts, the kickstarter kicked back and sheared off the kickstarter shaft. This put us back at square one.

I don't know the reason for the original breakage of the shaft, but this new shaft breaking concerns me. I can't figure out what might be causing this shaft to break.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this?

My Himalayan 411 (Euro 5, ~3,000 miles) has developed a persistent orange check engine light.

Bike starts, idles and rides completely normally, with no noticeable issues. Recently had an oil change and general inspection with no concerns found.

I’ve restarted it several times, but the light stays on.

Has anyone experienced this? How do I find the source of the problem / fix it?

Is rust on the spokes like this cleanable? Or should I look into getting a new wheel. I haven’t been riding it like this, this is my project bike for the winter

After low speed crash (slid on left side into railing) I did repairs but forgot to check/refill oil. I rode after and lost power at ~85mph for a couple of seconds. After that these sounds began and oil was low. What does it sound like?

Update: found silver specks on oil filter when I changed the oil.

Seems like I'm missing something but I don't know what. What would cause this to happen?

Hello all! This is my first bike so kinda confused. I have a motoguzzi 2019 v7 stone with 13k miles. Oil change is due.

Recently, it became really hard to change gears. Like I have to apply more pressure to change between gears sometimes, and it never goes to neutral. On first gear at a stop, when I have the clutch fullle engaged, the bike wants to roll forward and I have to press the brakes. If I don’t, the bike will inch forwards.

Yesterday, the engine completely stopped at a stop light when on first gear. It would turn off and I’d have to start it again. This happened 4-5 times.
Any help or recommendation on how to to proceed will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I have a 1995 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, 599cm³ 4 cilinder carburetor engine.

So I was on my way to work when I heard this ticking noise, it is not loud and it drives the same. I hear it when it is in gear and also when it is in neutral.

Can anyone help me with this?

Not sure if I’m nitpicking, but I did notice that the RPMs tends to bounce a little bit while it’s idling I don’t know if it’s due to the spark plugs and coils being bad or if it’s just how to bike is supposed to be, is this normal?

I have a 2002 FZ1000. The stator went bad a while ago and I brought it to a local trusted mechanic who has done plenty of work for me before. The flywheel is stuck on the crank shaft and we have been fighting this for a couple months now. Any advice would be appreciated. Also in central Florida coast area.

My bike has developed a weird hum a couple weeks back, and I would appreciate some input. Some background:

- I heard this for the first time after riding for an hour on the interstate in a combination of stop and go and free flowing traffic;
- When I turned the bike off and coming back after letting it cool off, the sound was gone; and
- I went for a diagnostic ride today (~1 hour), and there was no noise until about 50 minutes in.

The video I attached was taken after I parked, but left the bike running. Note that it gets louder the closer I get to the dash. In person, you almost can’t hear the noise if you’re down by the radiator. I bring that up, because a friend suggested something was going on with bearings near my radiator. I wanted to see if the noise was coming from the tank, even though the sound doesn’t get louder when I put my ear to the tank. I had to turn the bike off to unlock the fuel door, but the noise was gone when I turned the bike back on. Thoughts? Thank you in advance!
