How can we properly educate and get people to take action and change and same goes for governments or government agencies like councils etc .
Like obvs we can educate via social media , follow more environmental accounts to make them more popular but that isn’t enough we need education done faster , more thorough , we need more people changing what they do and more people pushing governments and government departments to change.
Like I don’t directly say what to do , but I am part of a youth group(I’m a teenager ) that writes a section for our local newspaper and in my articles I try put certain environmental parts in , like my last article was about the local election for my county councillor and I asked each of them environmental questions (only two answered but better than none ) , then my one I’m writing right now is about the fossil fuel industry asking someone who works in the industry and someone who has a grass roots organisation for trying to get more solar panels on more houses . I get given options on what stories to do and try pick the ones which I can try do environmental articles on or link it to an extent

Hi all, was listening to the recent Build a Better Future podcast with Michael Mezz interviewing Ayana Elizabeth Johnson and she brought up a really interesting point that I wonder if people overlook.
Banks.
They function by using money given to them by us and loan that money out to projects and pay you back some interest as an incentive to remain with them essentially.
I'd never thought about it before and have been using Monzo for probably a decade or so now and I can't lie it's pretty good.
But for the effort of spending a few hours or even a day moving accounts to something significantly more environmentally beneficial then I'd love to.
Ideally though I want to retain as much of the "modern" functionality of slick online banking.
Is there such a thing?
Any recommendations you have would be greatly recieved.

I’m hitting an ethical quandary and wondering what others do to cope with the state of the world when it feels like it’s an uphill battle.
I want to get another credit card because I’m doing some abroad travel but all of the options (credit unions etc.) aren’t really what I’m looking for. Yet, with big banks like Chase or Amex, their investments in fossil fuels make me feel like I’m completely going against my ethics. I know there isn’t really any ethical credit card company, I guess I’m just curious what other climate conscious individuals do to feel like they are doing their part, while also understanding we are complicit and participating in the structures of destruction as well.
I know it probably looks different for each individual, I’m just newer to financial education and curious about different perspectives.

Hey all. I’ve worked in climate communications for a while, and I recently finished a thesis looking at how clean energy misinformation spreads in comment sections. The biggest thing I took away is that facts on their own rarely change much. How something feels, and who it comes from, seems to matter a lot more.
That got me wondering whether there’s a better way to have these conversations. So I’ve started streaming, mixing some climate talk with gaming, mostly to see if I can reach people somewhere they’re already comfortable, instead of hoping they find a climate podcast.
I’m still figuring a lot of this out, and I’d really value hearing from people here. Have you ever seen someone open up about climate or energy in a way that surprised you? What do you think made it work? Are there topics people around you are curious about but would never go looking for? And for the gamers here, are there games where these conversations come up naturally?
No right answers, and I’m not trying to sell anything. I just figure this community has seen a lot out there, and I’d rather learn from that than guess.

Litter picking group , contacting mp , making a wildlife charity , what have you done to help the environment as action not just changing your own actions ?

City council has long sought to dismantle the citizens idling complaint program and to allow truck idling again in the city for the sake of big business. Intro 561-A is their latest attempt. Please sign the petition and tell Speaker Menin that NYC deserves clean air!

Reposting with a new flair
Reading regeneration by Paul Hawkins and thinking about the possibility of turning old Christmas trees into biochar. Has anyone done this? How would I work to roll this out in my city?

Early 30s currently between roles.
Background: BS in Computer Science then ~3 years as a cloud support engineer at AWS. Followed by MS in Information Studies (HCI) → 3 years doing UX research and information architecture at a state government agency (mixed-methods research, website/content governance, analytics). I recently completed an AI for Climate program and will start a climate action training program.
I am contemplating two options. I want to leverage my existing skills in Comp Sci and Research to move into an analytical role. Or potentially move into climate communications and translate research into things the public and policymakers can actually use.
Questions:
Are there roles where UX research / IA skills are genuinely valued in climate orgs (research centers, NGOs, climate tech)? What titles should I search for?
I’m considering a master’s that combines climate research with communication/journalism (2027 or 2028 start, low-cost programs preferred). Has anyone done this? Was it worth it, or is it better to get into a climate org first?
Anyone who pivoted from tech/UX into climate: what actually got you hired?
Thanks a lot in advance!
