I've seen more than one post about people struggling for food or getting access to food. This is a list I was given and I have no idea if it is completely up to date. Please call ahead to check each one. I hope this helps someone during this tough time.

If you find a listing that is NOT actively working, please call the Golden Harvest (706-736-1199) to let them know so they can update this 6-page list.

Question Parents looking for community? Socializing? Single Parent Friendships... I have everything except a village and it’s lonely.

• Upvotes

I’m an Augusta native with two kids, one of which is younger. I’m f38 now, divorced after a 3 year separation and have a fulfilling career. But I have no friendships of substance anymore, post divorce. I don’t come from a large family and I’m not a party person. I’m Wondering if there are Moms or/and dads like me out here that need a village too? because it’s the single loneliest thing- feeling like im stuck on an island.

work friendships are awesome but I’m lacking a village, my job is remote-ish. Financially, I have all the things I once prayed for but I have it alone and no person is an island.

I guess I’m hoping there’s more people like me who want a safe and stable village/ a community. if there are people like me out there I’d like to know. I’d love to know I’m not alone, this simply can’t be all there is.

Question Flower Wholesaler in Augusta GA

Does anyone know of a flower shop or distributor that will sell wholesale in GA. My aunt used to own a flower business in South Carolina and has offered to help do our flowers for our wedding but she does not have a contact in CSRA. If anyone knows please drop their name or message me privately if that is better!

Anyone would want to go to the haunted forest(Back To Nature Garden Center, 1815 Kissingbower Road, Augusta, GA 30904) rave together, i kinda want to go but if i go by myself, i would feel weird about it. Hit me up if you would like to go together. Most of my friend have plan with their girlfriend or boyfriend. So i am kinda left alone. I am 19m btw if that information matter.

Dining / Where to Eat Best places to get pies?

Good afternoon,

Are there any places in and around Augusta that sell good pies? I'm not talking about pizza. I mean traditional pies, Apple etc.

I already found these places:

The boll weevil Cafe,

Lil mamas sweets and treats,

Teresas treats

Does anyone know any more places? Are there any bakeries like "the pie hole" in Atlanta somewhere in the area?

Hii, 20f and I need some female friends 😅 Some of my favorite hobbies are arts and crafts, bowling and baking! I would like friends who are down to talk and hang out often as am I (not on any clingy stuff tho). Let me know if you're interested! 😀

Events Donation Events!

Food Not Bombs is partnering with The Book Tavern and Moth & Magpie next month to collect donations to help feed our neighbors!

Food Not Bombs is a grassroots collective that provides free vegan meals and clothing to people every Saturday at noon in the parking lot across from Sacred Heart. It's entirely volunteer run and has no requirements or limitations for who's allowed to help or eat. Every week, we feed about 30 people, and the number keeps growing.

Please consider donating at either of these events. A lot of the people we feed are unhoused and a bag or rice and a few cans of beans is so cheap and provides meals to people who might otherwise go hungry that day.

Local News The Augusta Clarion, Issue No. 4 — Dracula, Halloween, and more of Augusta's overlooked corners

Issue No. 4 of The Augusta Clarion is out!

This week, we talked with the folks behind Misfit Theatre's Dracula, rounded up some Halloween happenings, and found a few more interesting things going on around Augusta.

There's also local art, a grant for Augusta firefighters, and some useful community resources.

I'm trying to make this a weekly paper that helps people discover more of Augusta—especially the smaller events, interesting people, and neighborhood stories that don't always get much attention.

If you know about something happening around town, I'd love to hear about it. Local events, unusual places, community projects, neighborhood history, or just something you think more Augustans should know about.

Here's this week's issue:

Moving to Augusta Just moved in

Hi everyone! Just moved to Augusta near Summerville campus with my husband and one year old from NYC.
I moved against my will lol ( bc my husband got a job offer here ) So I’m trying to see what’s in here to do since it’s very quit and peaceful which I love but at the same time I miss the chaos of NYC.
I worked in healthcare before ( administration & management ) I heard this area is having big major healthcare system.

Open to any kind of suggestions!

Many thanks 🙏

Dining / Where to Eat Kpot updates?

Hey I just found out there was supposed to be a kpot opening in augusta recently and i was searching online and saw that people have been saying they were supposed to open months ago but it seems like they kind of gave up and they might just toss the idea of ever opening the store. Does anyone have any updates on if they did actually give up on the store or should I still have my hopes up?

Question romanticizing the city

What do you like about this city? What do you look forward to? How do you romanticize life here? Moving soon and everything online seems negative. No where is perfect, but for those who do enjoy their lives here what do you like about living in Augusta?

Opinion / Rant I'm So Tired of the White Supremacist Statue on Broad

That pillar to the Confederate Dead on Broad Street is so fucking vile. I hate it. It's the worst part of this entire city bar none. It's just pro racism, pro slavery bullshit we have erected so close to memorials to a famous black man (James Brown). What bullshit chicanery by the city, to worship dead slavers so close to a man they fought and died to try and ensure he'd be born in chains.

This isn't like a call I'm gonna do anything, probably not even worth it to try and get as much as a petition as it will fall on deaf ears. But I'm tired of holding in how much I hate the racism monument.

Hobbies Any Contortion or flexibility classes?

I’m looking for a contortion/flexibility training for adults. Not quite a stretch lab but something more intense. If not a particular business , then do you know of anyone who does it on the side maybe in a way that’s not quite found on Google or Instagram but a business that they run separately? I’m a bit desperate as this is something I’ve been dying to do for years.

Question Antique quilt preservation help?

I have an antique quilt I have acquired recently. It’s in very, let’s call it “well loved” condition. My mother and I are both skilled quilters and have decades of experience, but this is beyond our skill set. I was wondering if anyone in the CSRA knows of any professionals I can take this quilt to, to be both cleaned & repaired…. Or at least have it looked at to see if either is even possible. Thanks for any help!

Outdoor Activities Any other cavers in the area?

Hey there, anyone else in the area a caver, or interested in caving? Augusta used to have a grotto (caving club) but it is long defunct. So I'm reaching out for kindred spirits who are looking to connect and adventure!
