Question Superblast 3 sizing

Just got my ASICS Superblast. Do these look too big, or does the fit look okay? These are only my second pair of running shoes, so I’m still trying to figure out sizing and what a proper fit should look like. Would love some input! 😊

Question Run Repeat - Adios Pro 5

Curious about how we feel about the review Run Repeat released in the AP5. I haven’t run in the AP5 yet, but I have the AP3 so I’m especially curious about the stability rating they gave the 5.

What did they get right? What did they get wrong? Did they miss anything?

Question Bottom of shoes

I have some Novablast 6. About 50 miles all road or paved greenway. This is happening on the bottom. Is this normal?

Question If you could take the mega blast foam/sple and combine it with any upper, what would it be?

If we’re keeping it all ASICS, I would go super blast two upper with a slightly thicker tongue to reduce lace stitching.

If I were to combine shoes, I would take the mega blast sole and pair it with the Saucony endorphin azura upper everything

Daily Trainer Question Looking for a new daily trainer

Previously used the Rebel v5 but now I’m looking into different options because the FuelCell just bottoms out way too quickly.

I’m looking for something durable and can handle daily runs, easy runs, recovery runs, and occasional slower long runs. I have a slightly wide foot and usually get the wide version of shoes but normally sizing up will do the trick.

I’m looking at either the Vomero Plus or Aero Glide 4. I’ll appreciate any other recommendations as well

My current rotation is:
- Rebel v5 - daily trainer
- SC Rebel v1 - tempo / race
- Dynafish - long run / race

Comparing Shoes Question Pulled the trigger on the superblast 3

Just picked up the ASICS Superblast 3 after running in the Adidas Adizero Evo SL for about a year. I mainly used the Evo SL for my long runs and daily training, but lately they haven't been feeling the same. The bounce feels pretty much gone, the outsole is starting to wear down, and my feet have been feeling beat up after runs. Decided it was time for a new pair, so I went with the Superblast 3. For those who've tried both, was this a good switch for long runs or daily training?

Race Shoe Question Loved the AP3 and Elite V5. Whats next?

Loved both these shoes for racing 10ks and half marathons. The AP3s are gone and the Elite V5s are on their way out. What should I try next that's similar to both of these?

Question Got the NB Supercomp Rebel V1 for $125, steal?

Can’t wait to try this bad boy on the road!

I just have one small concern: I opted for a US 9.5, even though my true-to-size is US 9, because the US 9 felt too narrow for my wide feet. I just hope the extra length won’t bother me and that the shoe’s performance will remain the same!

Anyone with a similar experience? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Question Brooks glycerine 23 wear pattern ?

Thumbnail

These are the bottoms of my Brooks glycerin 23s . I walk approximately 10 to 14 km per day at a pace of 8.5 minutes per kilometer. I'm walking on asphalt mostly, and concrete sidewalks. I'm relatively new to this. Just started serious walking in May to get into shape. I'm a 170 lb middle-aged male, and my stride feels pretty normal. Is this wear pattern normal? In total I've put 550km on them.

If anyone has any advice based on my wear pattern and activity level of different shoes I should use I would greatly appreciate it. I'm just an old 48-year-old dude trying to get his cholesterol down and get into shape:)

Question Why do the ASICS Nimbus 27 only last 250 miles for me?

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

I'm really trying to figure out if I'm gaslighting myself or not. I'd love for these shoes to last 300+ but I always feel like I'm flying close to the sun beyond 250 miles. The shoes start feeling flat and my calf/achilles/shins start feeling some pain.

Context that may matter or not:

Weight: 145lbs

Height: 5'10"

average mileage: 90-100mpw, all singles

running surface: 99% asphalt

landing: forefoot striker

rotation: I switch between 2 pairs of nimbus 27 for easy days, and wear other shoes for my one long run, and another pair of shoes for the workout mileage of my one workout a week. Even with this rotation they are feeling very flat at 250 miles

Anything else I'm missing?

Adding photos for reference.

These shoes feel great and I swear by them at least early on. These are my like 8th pair. I'm always astounded when I hear people get 500+ miles on their shoes. I couldn't imagine that

Question 361° Mega 3 Pro sizing?

I'd appreciate hearing from Mega 3 Pro runners on how true to size their shoe runs in terms of length. I'm not concerned with width (my feet are narrow) but only length. One reason I'm asking is that I found the 361° Flame 5 to run slightly longer than TTS where the older 361° Flame 4 ran TTS. I'm a 10.5 in most shoes and need to choose between 10 and 11 for the Mega 3 Pro. Thanks for any comments!

(update: thanks for all the comments - I ordered a size 10 and we'll see how that works)

Race Shoe Question Vaporfly 3 kill my calves

I have a pair of VF3 for a while, had used them for 5ks and they were great. Recently used them for a training run for a half marathon, did 10 miles on them and my calves were very sore.

I raced my half marathon this past weekend on them and my calves are very sore, more than ever. Have been running for about 4 years, have done a few half marathons, 3 full marathons and a bunch of shorter races and have never been this sore.

I guess it's the shoes, but what I don't understand is I had a pair of VF2 that I retired at 350 miles, and I was never sore like this with them, even though the VF2 are supposed to be more aggressive than the VF3?

Could it be just lack of calf strength work, or the shoes simply don't work for me? For reference, I'm also on my second pair of Adios Pro 3s and never had an issue with my calves in those. Anyone else experience a similar thing with VF3, and have any other alternatives?

Big/Heavy Runner Question Is there a shoe like Altra FWD Via 2 but with the premium feel of Asics Gel Nimbus?

I'm 6'1", 210 lbs.

Altras fit my foot extremely well, especially the FWD Via 2 with its original footshape (I also have Escalante 4 and 5, and Torin 9). I also have Asics Gel Nimbus 27 in my rotation from before I started using Altras, and find these to have a really luxurious feel to them for long easy runs and recovery runs, but my foot seems a little wide for them in the toe box (especially big toe side).

Compared to the Asics, the foam in the FWD Via 2 feels cheaper and less plush, even though it's supposedly the max cushioned trainer from Altra.

My question is the title: is there a shoe that has a better shaped toe box but still has that premium feel of the Asics? I have tried some Topos models but hate the arch shape. Is the solution to try Asics in a higher size?

Question The best hybrid shoe?

Thumbnail

Winter is coming, trails are getting slippery here in Oregon, and looking to play in the gravel and light mud at times.

The MTC R1 and C1 have been my favorite shoes of the year and I was pretty well set on picking up either the H1 or M1 to go along with them.

Being newer to running I had never heard of Speedland until the recent Backyard Ultras and now the BOA and strap system has really caught my eye.

Anyone have both and can give a comparison? I’m a larger runner with a wider foot which is why MTC’s foam and toe box have worked great for me and I hear the upper on the Speedlands is fairly roomy as well.

Question Hurricane 24 upper separating: Retire or easy fix?

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

These are at 550kms. The midsole feels still okay, I might be able to run another 150km in them. I’ve sweat a ton this summer and last here in the Virginia humidity and assume that might have done the adhesive in. I never washed them, the white crustiness I also from my sweat 😅
It is my only pair for this to happen though and it happened with both shoes!

Is this fixable with shoe goo?

Otherwise I’d just retire them, I have a bunch of other dialy trainers that I still need to chew through before I ever think of buying a new one 😅

Question Adidas Evo sl

Hey fellow runners

I got the asics novoblast 5 in size 45 EU. Now am planning to get the evo sl. Should I got with size 46 or 45.1/3 EU?

The contemplation here comes from the fact that the official insole length of the evo sl in the mentioned size is 28 cm whether my novoblast is 28.5 cm. Noting that I still have extra space in my novoblast while even wearing thick nike socks.

P.S. I am using it for my daily running and tempo runs. Thank you all in advance.

Question Have I been scammed?

As the title says, wondering if I’ve been scammed?

Bought some Dynafish Xiaonian from Shopnings (I’m based in the UK), seemed all legit checked their reviews on here and trust pilot.

Shipping mentioned 2-4 weeks which wasn’t a big deal. 5 week have past and I’ve contacted 2 separate numbers on their WhatsApp asking about my order, initially the respond ask me to check back in a couple of days and then they block my number haha?

I’ve checked my parcel shipping number against different international shipping couriers and all say something different from doesn’t exist to landed in country of destination?
I’m supposed to get a notification from our local mail service when it’s with them but yet to receive that!

What do you all think and what should I do?

Big/Heavy Runner Question Couch to Half Marathon recommendations please

Hi I have started a 20 week program to go from “couch to half marathon”

I’m currently overweight relatively active but will be from this week running 3 times a week, strength training twice a week and playing football once a week (already own boots)

I have had meniscus surgery in my left knee and when running with the current shoes I have it feels like I’m thudding the floor likely from a mix of weight and crappy shoes.

I need shoes that are under £100 and will work well for wet pavement.

Any recommendations please?

Do you have any unconventional uses for running shoes?

Like tempo one for long slow run or trail shoes for road running ?

Question Shoe rotation for Marathon training

I’ll be starting training for my first marathon soon and I’m unsure if my current rotation will hold out. I’ve done a few half marathons in the last couple years, PB 1:35, but want to know how many sessions you tend to do in race day shoes when marathon training?

Long/easy runs: Superblast 2 (285km used

Tempo/Intervals: Saucony Endoprhin speed 5 (16km used)

Race day: Adidas AP4 (72 km used)

Should I get another shoe like Endorphin pro 5 to make sure my AP4’s last till race day?
Do people tend to use their race day shoes for marathon pace interval sessions or normally use their speed shoe?

Question Dynafish Xiaonian Sizing

I know this question has been asked a lot but I'm going around the houses with sizing before I order.

I wear a UK 11.0 in Novablast, which is a 29.5cm, insole length 30.7. I have enough room in the length in these and wouldn't want any smaller.

My foot measures 28.5.

What size should I go for in Dynafish sizing?

Question Recommendations for daily long distance walking?

Hello! I don’t run but I’ve recently been walking moderately? long distances consistently (over 16k steps daily) as im trying to be more active. In addition to other forms of non running cardio like stair master and the elliptical/cross trainer. I tried my best to do lots of research but I’m seeing mixed reviews of people saying good running shoes are bad walking shoes so I’m really lost.

Don’t really have a budget as long as they’re good and worth it! I’d like something light and nimble and soft ride but truly anything that’s good I’m fine with! No harsh preferences at all

Thanks for any replies in advance!

Question Does anyone know what these are?

Post image
5 Upvotes

These have been coming out of some Topo Terraventure 3's for almost a full year now. I originally thought they were pebbles, but they are always the same size and color, and they just appear seemingly out of nowhere. They are hard, but I can very slightly dent them with my fingernail, so I think they are plastic. I've felt around inside and looked as much as I could, but there is nothing hard like this inside the shoe, or jagged that feels like something might be breaking off.

Experimenting, it seems they appear if the shoe flexes at the toe during each step. If I flex the shoe just by holding it, more come out. It only happens in one shoe though. It's like there's a little portal to the plastic pebble dimension in there.

Question Trail shoes for both winter and mountains?

I'd like to try and find a trail shoe that will work well for both winter running with snow and ice as well as for technical mountain terrain. I usually prefer shoes with at least some bounce or energy return. For road shoes I've loved the Evo SL, Novablast 5, and vomero plus but definitely felt the novablast was the easiest to manage in the trails out of the 3
