Is there anyone in Florida who does not have the comforts of AC in their homes, and if so, how is that possible??

Is my car insurance insane or is this normal?

We live in Tampa and insure three vehicles -- two drivers over 50 and one 23-year-old. All three vehicles are over 10 years old and paid for, and none of us have a bad driving record (no DUIs or major violations). My insurance is $987.17 A MONTH. Am I getting fleeced, or is this normal for Florida?

Interesting/ Cool places to visit in Fort Lauderdale

When I signed up for my Capital One credit card, they gave me a $100 voucher ticket I could redeem on flights or activities and it’s been sitting in my account for almost a year but it expires at that year mark , anyways, I’ve never actually been to Fort Lauderdale other than driving by , I only ended up paying $28 for my ticket because I’m flying out of RDU and Miami and Fort Lauderdale where the cheapest options along with New York at a close second, but I’ve already been there twice and it’s too much for me to enjoy , anyways I’m supposed to visit just for a day trip in February , I’ll get there early morning and leave late afternoon. Comment some things that I can do while I’m there. That are actually interesting. cool, calm. Nothing too Crazy.

Wedding venue recommendations?

I feel like I’m losing my mind, trying to look at wedding venues in the Tampa (or within about 100miles) area, and all I can find are outdoor venues.

Born and raised in Florida, but I sweat like a pig anytime I step outside and do not want to deal with that when getting married.

Can anybody give me some suggestions for places they had their wedding venue/have been to?

Looking for places under $7,000.00 between 150-200 people. Looking more towards a Garden/ floral/art/museum vibe rather than farm house or beachy.

I would truly appreciate any suggestions or recommendations. Thank you :)

Edit: I am looking for just the venue not with a reception included.

Place to see a manatee in late October?

I'm in Florida for 9 days visiting from the UK now, and the thing I would love to do more than anything would be to see a manatee (viewpoints/kayaks, anything at all)

I know I'm too early for the big congregations, but I would love any advice of sightings, resident populations, or recommendations to improve my chances.

Thank you so much in advance! I'm in West Palm Beach but can travel.

reading a westgate lakes resort spa orlando pool review for a weekend reset

we booked a three night stay near sand lake road after spending four days walking around a trade show floor to see if the aquatic facilities were actually worth taking a full recovery day. going through a westgate lakes resort spa orlando pool review helped us figure out which of the seven heated pools was quietest, so we ended up spending most of our afternoon by the smaller lakefront pool deck before heading into serenity spa for a massage. having multiple pool options spread across the property meant we could easily dodge the crowded family areas near the main tower and just find a quiet hot tub to soak.

the overall layout across westgate resorts villas works out really well when you just need dedicated outdoor relaxation space without feeling cramped. having a full size fridge in the room meant we could keep sports drinks cold and store extra fruit and water for our pool lounge afternoon, which kept us from constantly spending money at the bars.

Will Florida continue to be a good place to live in the next 20 to 100 years, despite the weather?

Florida seems like such a good place to live. Low taxation, a high profile of civil and property rights, and high economic growth. I am thinking about buying a house there for my family. It seems that the only drawback is the weather. So I ask myself: will Florida continue to be a good place to live in the next 20 to 100 years despite the weather?

Gynecologist recommendations

I live in Port Saint Lucie Florida and right near Stuart FL as well. I want to leave “physicians to women Stuart” and go somewhere else. I had a billing fiasco with them.
I will have “anthem blue cross gold ppo” for insurance in the new year and I need a doctor that listens to patients and isn’t dismissive and is proactive about looking into issues. I also need one that doesn’t shove having babies down patient throats if they’ve already said they’re child free.

Hello everyone, this is my first time voting and I decided to request a mail in ballot. I only requested a couple days ago but I’m kind of scared of it not arriving. I’ve considered going in-person. How long did yours take to arrive?

Best mental hospitals near Polk county

Update. I am feeling better today, in a huge part from getting info and support from all of you. I did not check in, but now I have a plan. And that brings me peace. Thank you to all.

Hey all. I am done. So done. I am not even in my right mind at this moment. I left my husband in our car in heavy traffic, walked to a safe spot, and got an uber to a hotel. I am not originally from florida. I have seen locals post about the abominable conditions in the mental hospitals nearby. I’d rather just make a date with my favorite scarf or the closest train, no thank you. I am currently in lakeland florida but will travel further for a good hospital. I need to check myself in asap. Last time I was hospitalized, i got bed bugs, estrangement and no help. I have Anthem insurance. Up to two hours away is fine. Thanks.

Orlando quick marriage

Hello, I am taking my fiance for our yearly December trip to Orlando. I have tried looking up some information, but not having a whole lot of luck besides actual marriage venues. Does the Orlando area have any quick or nicer cheap wedding options? It would be just something personal and for us on our anniversary date. Then we'd do something with family later. It'll be in December

Bikini car wash would be fun too! Any located near Orlando?

Miami holiday

So I’m looking to come to miami next year and also visit the Bahamas. Been giving myself a headache as want to come in lower/off peak seasons but don’t want to have it be a complete wash out. So far late October seems to be favourable but opinions from locals would be appreciated. I personally love a storm so that’s no bother just don’t want a whole week in my wellies 😂😂

Best spot for mangroves?

Hi,

Looking to go to Florida in November, I'd like to visit a place near the mangroves. Due to mobility issues I can't kayak, what are the best places to go for an overall good trip with mangrove viewing?

TIA!

Looking for financing options for a roof replacement job in Tampa

We’re going ahead with a full shingle replacement and I’ve gotten four quotes so far. The financing conversations were all over the place. Two companies brought it up right away, one only talked about it after I asked, and one said they don’t offer it at all.
Has anyone here financed a roof in the area? Were the terms easy to understand, or was there fine print you wish you’d caught earlier? Would love to hear who you went with and how it turned out. Thanks in advance

Fort Lauderdale Hotel Recs

Looking at maybe doing a few nights in Fort Lauderdale - end of December. Husband and I (late 40s), looking to relax, have some good food, pool time. We aren't big partiers, more chill. We are flying in and won't be renting a car. I was looking at the Hilton FL as an option. Anyone love/hate it? Conrad and The Diplomat sound lovely, but out of our budget for this trip. Or suggestions on other hotels?

Vacation late April early may

My wife has never seen the ocean and we’re thinking Florida for our vacation this year. Leaving the kids at home with grandma so looking for a resort type of feel. After looking it’s quite overwhelming trying to decide where to go. Looking for beachy and warm. We’d be flying in so close to an airport would be good. Never been to Florida so not sure how south we need to be weather wise around this time. Any and all recommendations would be awesome. Thanks in advance

Chill first dates near Mount Dora?

Looking for things to do for my birthday weekend (November 6-8) within an hour from Mount Dora. We are both nerdy introverts that struggle in crowded spaces. I'd love to find some good picnic spots and pretty spots to sit and chill, and maybe a few places to go on dates. Ideally places that don't involve playing games (arcade, escape room, sports, etc), clubs, theme parks or places people go mainly for photo ops. Marvel nerd and science nerd who both love nature, music, crafts, animals, being comfy and being lazy. I just moved here a few days ago from the Seattle, WA area. Any recommendations?
