Recent Announcement with Additional Information
Over the last several months we have a seen a significant rise in activity across this subreddit, primarily revolving around politics and current events.
Because talk is cheap and it means nothing without action, we on the mod team would like to remind everyone:
- If you disagree with defense contractors, from drone to missile manufacturing, regardless of what it is used for or where they may go...
- If you want change for law enforcement policies, training, and accountability at the state level...
- If you are passionate about women's reproductive rights...
- If you believe Arkansas should/could be more affordable outside of lower income taxes...
- If you don't like data centers popping up without regulation...
- If you believe in preserving the natural outdoors of this state...
- If you believe in more rights for renters...
- If you believe in a better educated state population, from children entering school to adults within our workforce and beyond
- If you believe in getting corporate donors out of politics..
- If you believe your local/state politician is not doing the job they were previously elected to do...
- Or you can't make your mind up and just want change...
...we implore you to get out and vote. There is no electoral college here. Every election this year is purely decided on number of votes cast.
Get out there and let your voice be heard.
Every. Vote. Matters.
We will keep this post pinned to the top of the subreddit until Election Day. If you have questions about voting or need some help, please don't hesitate to ask. If the mod team can't help you find the answer you need, we're sure someone else can.
Comments will be set to Sort by New for this purpose.

๐ฎ SEEKING ADVICE ๐ฎ Best hiking trails under an hour from Little Rock
Visiting Little Rock in early November. I want to hear your BEST hikes for views?
Iโll have a car. Iโm comfortable with moderate to strenuous trails (but nothing too brutal), and Iโm happy to drive up to an hour from Little Rock for something great. Views are my main goal, and fall color would be a bonus.
Specific trail names and parks would be really helpful. Also open to tips on trail conditions, parking, or good post-hike food. Thanks!

๐ฎ SEEKING ADVICE ๐ฎ Unique/Alternative Elopement Venues
i cannot seem to find a venue that fits my vibe that is also budget friendly. i love the idea of something spooky or a bar. i really donโt vibe with the traditional church/barn/outdoor setting.

๐ OUTDOORS ๐ Buffalo National River - some sites on camera film
I went on my first camping trip to Arkansas. Spent three days in the Jasper/Ponca area of the Buffalo National River. Had a disposable camera with me for some of my hikes. Wanted to share some of the photos I took. Unfortunately the sun wasnโt very agreeable for photos at Hawksbill!
- Photos 1 & 2: Hawksbill Crag
- photos 3 & 4: Big Bluff
- Photos 5 & 6: Steel Creek Campground (overlook and campground)

๐๏ธ COMMUNITY ๐๏ธ ARHOME Community Engagement and Work Requirement
I have family members and neighbors who may be affected by the aforementioned work requirement. I am concerned the details of how to satisfy the requirement are not transparent to Arkansas citizens at this time.
As best as I can tell:
- We are under a "soft launch" where DHS is attempting to determine whether people have satisfied the work requirement with no further action on the person's part.
- A contractor / call center will begin to reach out to people around December 1, 2026 to bridge the gaps.
- The program goes into effect on 1/1/2027.
- The rules are not clear as far as I can find thus far.
- Once a person is deemed ineligible, they may need to qualify for the prior 3 months in order to be eligible to reapply.
I have logged an FOIA to inquire of DHS the rules so we can come up with a strategy to help my fellow Arkansans who are trying to remain covered by Medicaid or under the Medicaid expansion and fall under this work requirement. I hope to share the information I learn.
That is all.
