After witnessing the vitriolic reaction to my last post re: Immigrants being treated badly in Alberta, I decided to make this quick and dirty graphic. STOP repeating the LIE that temporary workers and students are a huge burden on the healthcare system. They simply are not.
I'm thinking the last post must have been brigaded by the amount of "just asking questions" people that came out of the woodwork.
I guess since the sub has grown, it has brought in a fresh crop of assholes ☺️

Current Events Trump adviser says Alberta referendum made it ‘essentially impossible’ to negotiate on trade deal
Canada and the U.S. are “very close” to a trade deal, a key adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump said, days after the White House imposed new tariffs on Canadian goods and dropped others.
National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett made the remark during an interview on Fox News Sunday. He said U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick had been speaking with his Canadian counterparts through last week, and that the two sides are nearing an accord.
“The negotiations have picked up. They’re gathering steam,” Hassett said.
Asked why Trump’s tariff policy had not yet resulted in a deal, the adviser blamed the “Canadian election that just happened, including Alberta separating,” for the impasse. Earlier this week, Albertans voted against holding a binding referendum on leaving Canada.
That had made it “essentially impossible to negotiate with the Canadians,” he said.

Gary Mason on election interference: "There's one set of rules for them, and another set of rules for everybody else. And people are fed up with it. The rest of the world is fed up with it. And that's why the U.S. has become a pariah country. People don't like them. Canadians don't like them."

Current Events PM Carney says it’s time to move beyond Indian Act
Speaking to reporters following a meeting with First Nations chiefs and premiers in Ottawa, Carney said abolishing the Indian Act has been requested by many First Nations, including Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew at the meeting on Monday.
Carney said Monday it’s “sobering” to consider that this is the first meeting to bring together federal, provincial and First Nations leaders in two decades.
“Our task is twofold. First is to work together to create opportunities for all our peoples, while building a country that is stronger, more sovereign and more independent,” he said.
“And secondly, our task is to live our values fully of a fair and inclusive Canada.”
While some First Nations are opposed to Carney’s development agenda and those of the provinces, others are open to the idea of increasing economic activity in their territories.
Nisga’a Nation President Eva Clayton told reporters ahead of the meeting she supports Carney’s plans and that she and other modern treaty holders are at the meeting to support Canada.

The UCP might make Edmonton pay up to $170M to rip out its own bike lanes. I've heard reports that the UCP has been asking for costs of full network removals. City numbers put that at $150-170M This is the same gov't that just spent $130M on a glorified opinion poll.
