Politics Mega Thread (MOD ONLY) POLITICS MEGA THREAD
Welcome to week # of the politics mega-thread! Once again, this will be a free-for-all without censorship. The thread, and our sub, are open to all walks of life. Everyone participating needs to remember that not everyone shares the same opinion, and cussing someone out, censoring different opinions, or being downright disrespectful only weakens your own argument.
While national politics often affect Texans, politics in the mega thread MUST be related to Texas in some way, shape, or form. Unnecessarily bringing up national politics in our state sub without direction creates disagreements, and detracts from the nature of the sub. You must make the relation to Texas CLEAR, or your posting will be removed! Here’s an example; “Federal immigration policy impacts Texas by influencing border security, state resources, and the economy due to its long border with Mexico.”
As a reminder, I am once again stating that POLITICAL POSTS AND COMMENTS DO NOT LEAVE THIS THREAD. The sub rules still apply here.
By posting rule-breaking content, you are disrespecting both the sub, your fellow members, and moderators, and WE, as moderators, reserve the right to take down your content when it violates our rules.
Mega threads will be locked when the next is posted.

Ask a Texan where to visit texas as a solo traveller
hey everybody !
always was a fan of the usa and especially texas so im planning a week of solo travel around texas in mid january before meeting up with my some friends in austin. I am flying into austin and want to experience the real texas culture- real country music, dance halls and so on (hopefully some bull riding as well) and I dont mind driving to a new place every day.
Unfortunately places like big bend are out of the picture because of the distance.
I'd love to hear some itinerary recommendations from the locals here
thanks!

Living in Texas Tell me about Cameron County
I'm considering retiring to unincorporated Cameron County and would like to read your opinions on the pros and cons. I am a widow, just me and my dog, so honest tradespeople is a big plus

Planning anniversary in TX!
My husband and I went to the stockyards a year ago around Christmas and was BEAUTIFUL. We are even tempted to move to Texas we just love it so much.
This trip will be in March and we went the hidden gems, places to stay, cool spots to check out.
We saw Cody Jinks at Billy Bobs and will definitely go back there, music is huge for us. We also want to go to the rodeo this time around too. But few more ideas and tips are welcomed! 🫶🏻

Travel Visiting texas from turkey give us your best tips
Hi everyone! My family and I are visiting Texas from November 23 to December 4. We’re thinking of going to San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas.
What would you recommend seeing or doing in each city? We’d also love advice on getting around, how many days to spend in each place, and any good stops along the way. My mom loves Western movies, so a fun cowboy or Western-themed experience would be a bonus, but we’re looking for general trip tips too.
Thanks!

Living in Texas TSAHC Questions / Suggestions
My boyfriend and I are first time homebuyers and we have been looking into different programs and this particular program keeps coming up - Texas state affordable housing corporation.
Our combined gross income is around 101,000. Our credit scores revolve around 700-750. Not sure about our DTI but our monthly credit card, loan and car payments add up to $620.
We aren’t looking for anything big or expensive for a home but looking for assistance for down payments. Has anyone used this program and if so, do you recommend or have other recommendations of where else to look for?
note: we are at homes around Mercedes or Harlingen, TX, if that makes any difference on the programs we should be looking into
