Hello everyone,

I recently tried Zen while borrowing a friends MacBook and ended up liking it a lot, I tried installing it on my Windows 11 machine but was disappointed at how it looked. It has none of the same transparency effects as MacOS, and I also can't seem to find a way to make it completely "dark' per se (such as how it looks in Incognito Mode).

I've seen some talk around Sine mods, are they safe? I'm just worried about needing to install something else alongside Zen which could break it, alongside the possibility of malicious mods. (if that's even a thing?)

Any tips would be appreciated! I love the flow of this browser and want to (hopefully) daily drive it.

pressing Ctrl+S or clicking the button hides the sidebar only for a second but then it comes back unprovoked

Hi, I just migrated from Arc to Zen yesterday. One thing I'm wondering is the blue border on all my tabs (in all spaces and all containers), I see on the right side:

Any idea what it is and how to get rid of it?

Using arch and niri. Switched to zen from chrome and it’s very slow. Installed with yay. Switched as apparently zen is one of the fastest browsers and this is happening.

I have Zen installed on both Windows (13900K/RTX 5080) and Macbook (M4 Pro).

Zen in Windows is buttery smooth. Switching spaces, Glance and every other animation is moves with an elegant flow and is a joy to use.

On the Macbook, switching profiles drops frame rates, Glance is significantly choppy (so much so that I vibecoded an extension to provide an alternate), scrolling is poor and slow, and there are lots of animation stutter here and there.

I have tried all sorts of solutions, including layout.frame_rate to 9999, and gfx.webrender.compositor to false, but they haven't helped.

This has been my biggest problem with Zen, even though I enjoy the browser a lot and now that it has sync, I want to make it my default browser across the board. Is there a fix for this?

I know my PC is significantly faster than the M4, but a browser should be smooth. Dia and Crest are both buttery smooth.

UPDATE: After multiple tests, I made it work. The problem is, I have no clue how because I did not do anything new, nor I haven't changed anything. Before that, it constantly showed the same account in multiple spaces.

I come from Arc and I'm slightly confused about this container situation.

I have 4 different spaces in Zen and 4 different containers created. I've assigned a different container for each of those spaces (set it as its profile). The thing is, when I sign into the same site in 2 different spaces, they share the session????

I must be missing something here. What I want to accomplish is each space having its own session through those containers. I checked multiple times and the spaces are indeed assigned to separate containers so I dont get why are the sessions shared?

I'm going to sound like the most annoying person ever but i was wondering if theses an easy way to get an ai sidebar in zen like there is in dia. I have just moved over from arc but i tried dia for a few days and i used it more than i would have originally thought.

Jumped (the sinking) Arc ship. Need a way to copy my history to Zen.
The import option in Zen settings only has Chrome and Safari.
I don't really want to use a 3rd party tool, unless it's super safe and reliable.

I tried a bunch of different flags in about:config related to theming, the only thing that stopped it was setting layers.acceleration.disabled to true, but that makes scrolling feel horrid and would not be something I could tolerate long term.

Eventually got to the point where I lost track of everything I'd changed so I set everything back to default.

It seems to be related to the on screen content? I can replicate it on youtube too, when the video is showing the url/tabs are brighter, and when scrolling down to the comments they darken.

Apologies for the phone recording, the issue actually doesn’t show up when screen recording the browser - perhaps that actually helps narrow down the issue? It'll show if I record my whole screen, but not the application window.

Edit: Further weirdness, if I switch on the top toolbar, the issue is isolated to the URL bar and no longer touches the sidebar at all.

I’m trying to map Ctrl + § as the “Go Back” shortcut in Zen Browser on macOS (ISO keyboard, § is the key left of 1), but I can’t get it to work.

When I record the shortcut, Zen registers the key as a backtick (^ \\`) instead of§\, so Ctrl + § does nothing. I’ve also tried editing the shortcuts JSON directly, but Zen resets it, and I tried a Karabiner-Elements remap, which still didn’t work.

I know it sounds a bit obsessive, but I’ve spent about 4 hours on this one shortcut. Is there any workaround?

Well, as you can see, every time I search for something, the sidebar appears for a few seconds, and I’d like it not to appear.

Hello I have been struggling with full-screening videos in my workspace tabs, whenever I do it seems like the tab bar (I have full tab bar, not compact or anything) delays in disappearing meaning that the video attempts to full-screen but has to wait on the tab bar to like close out.

I'm wondering if I am doing something wrong because I already know about the animation delay and all that in the config site but its not that. My theory is that its because my other workspaces have a lot of tabs so whenever I have to full-screen a video it has to like draw the tab bar and what not because I test in private window where of course no workspaces affect it and its all alone and the same videos full-screen immediately

I am on Version 1.23.4b and just need to know if its over for me thank you

my top bar refuse to hide (open to see)

I'm currently trying the browser for the first time and using the sidebar-only setting.

One thing that bugs me a bit is the extensions being displayed inside the address bar and only visible when hovering into the sidebar:

When I drag the sidebar smaller (or when I pin enough extensions), they're moving down into a separate line like this:

I do prefer the second view a lot more. Is there a way to always keep them in their own line, regardless of the sidebar size or the amount of pinned extensions?
