Concept / Design Windows 10 22h2 Pro made to look almost 1:1 like windows 7
I also took my time to brand some other stuff and install software of the time and made it look of the era.

Welcome to the monthly Simple questions and Help thread, for questions that don't need their own posts!
Before making a comment, we recommend you search your problem on Bing and check if your question is already answered on our Windows Frequently Asked Questions wiki page. This subreddit no longer accepts tech support requests outside of this post, if you are looking for additional assistance try r/WindowsHelp.
Some examples of questions to ask:
Is this super cheap Windows key legitimate? (probably not)
How can I install Windows 11?
Can you recommend a program to play music?
How do I get back to the old Sound Control Panel?
Sorting by New is recommend and is the default.
The general release of Windows 10 is no longer supported, however you can enroll to get extended support for your machine until October 2027, for more details on that please see this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/1kp4ebu/windows_10_end_of_support_what_it_means_for_you/

Sometimes won't update because it can't find the version number of the installed program.
Or the "install technology" has changed, and must be manually removed and reinstalled. Could theoretically be that old was a manual exe or msi or whatever install and so WinGet can't update that. But then why even list it in the WinGet listing?

Around this time last year, I worked on a similar project but with a standard Intel-based PC. Everything went quite smoothly so this time I want to challenge myself a bit-and it’s also a way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of Windows XP.
Many of you might wonder how a laptop that doesn't use an Intel or AMD chip can possibly have such broad compatibility. Well, if you’ve ever looked into the history of the x86 architecture you’ll find that besides Intel and AMD there were several other companies that also produced x86 chips tho but in much smaller quantities. Notable among them is VIA Technologies which holds x86 licenses acquired through its purchase of Cyrix and Centaur, the two companies that had entered into cross-licensing agreements with Intel in the late 90s.
And what I have here is the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC powered by VIA C7-M, the last x86 32 bit CPU that was made by a third party. It’s a bit of a shame that it’s a 32 bit CPU meaning the laptop can’t run Windows XP x64 or Windows 11. But in any case, 15 versions of Windows from 1.01 to 10 can certainly be considered a success to me.
The big improvement over the previous project is using Grub4dos bootloader instead of Xfdisk. This allows for direct loading the boot file of each Windows partition, bypassing the intermediate steps such as bootmgr→ntldr→io.sys that were previously required. Overall, the laptop runs stably but it still has some quirks that are unique to this one. You can check out the details of my experience in the video below:
Here are the specs for my laptop:
• CPU: VIA C7-M 1.6GHz
• iGPU: VIA S3 Chrome 9 HC
• Chipset: VIA CN896+VT8237S
• RAM: 2GB DDR2
• Storage: 160GB HDD SATA 2 (IDE mode)
• Display: 8.9 inches WXGA (1280x768)
• Wifi: WLAN 802.11; Bluetooth 2.0

I know vlc is the best player for video but what about MP3 and AVI files ?
Should I use VLC or the native Windows player?
Or is there a must-have application, something that’s considered the gold standard, much like VLC is for video but specifically for audio formats?

It's been a while since I saw the Windows 10 update screen. I didn't know that the security updates were extended to Oct, 2027. Guess I'm a few weeks late to this news.
PSA: You have to enroll (for free) to get the extended updates.
Why can't they continue these updates without this extra step.

Based on Windows 10 LTSC 2021 64-bit. I did manage 146MB but that required not having sound/bluetooth/firewall etc at all. This one can do pretty much whatever regular windows 10 can do (except windows store). UWP apps are work-in-progress.

This suddenly came to mind, so I decided to write it down, what do you think would happen if things had been this way?
Edit: Ah, of course, I was just imagining what would happen if Windows 11 never came out, and Windows 10 remained the last Windows version while still receiving feature updates etc. 🙂

For anyone still using Windows 10, NVIDIA will release its last Game Ready Driver for Windows 10 in October 2026. After that, you'll only get security updates every three months until October 2029.
Your current drivers will still work, but you won't get new Game Ready Driver updates anymore.

I have a Dell 15 Dc15250 and it has Windows 11 but can i downgrade it to Windows 10 without losing any data?

This is not a clickbait post (might be a rant tho). I have always been a fan of Microsoft products. I owned Lumia, windows laptop, desktop. Contributed to the communities. Hell I still get messages from people on Reddit who thank me for my comment solving a bug on windows 10.
It no longer makes sense for me to keep on investing in Windows. I already had moved away to MacBook 5 years back as my developer machine. But I still kept windows machine to play games and do random stuffs. With that machine nearing to an end, and the graphics cards being so expensive, I no longer think its affordable to keep using Windows to play games or use it as a work machine. I should perhaps get a gaming console instead while using Mac as primary.
It genuinely hurts to come to a stage like this. Microsoft does not seem to care at all.

Is this the original Windows Start menu? If not, just let me know. I also asked the original creator, but he didn’t reply. I didn’t want to make things awkward, so I didn’t ask him again. Thank you!
