Question/Help questioning college choice

please help and treat this post with respect:( i’m almost done with one semester as a freshie and so far there hasn’t been a week/day where i haven’t cried and felt so heavy.

for context, i’m taking slp as my program. it wasn’t my first, second, or third choice at all. i chose it because it was advertised to me by my family as “easy way to make money” and “easy path because of scarcity”, basically sureball i’d get a job if i graduate from it, which i verified as true when i did my own research.

it was so last minute when i decided to choose this, i thought i could carry to push through but it has been really hard to do so. academically wise, i’m doing fine, more than enough. but every time i receive a good mark, i feel a sense of dread instead of relief/happiness because i knew i didn’t study from the heart. and i can only imagine how it’s only get harder for me to balance my studies and my heavy thoughts.

being surrounded by my classmates who i can see are really passionate about it doesn’t help as well. i’m happy to see that but i mourn for the me that could have been like that.

i feel super guilty because my parents never pressured or forced me and i know how priviledged i am to be able to study this so i try to be happy every time they call me to ask how am i am. because i thought i could fake it till i make it but i’m seeing no progress ☹️. i try really hard to love it, i try to join many activities to keep my mind off it, but nothing ever helps

i’m also being hit hard with homesickness and i can’t help but view myself as weak because everyone seems to be adjusting well and enjoying their freshie life and my mind is always somewhere else. and i swear to god i try to keep myself busy but i can’t help but breakdown

and part of the reason why i chose this was because i was too scared to chase what i really want—which is vetmed:(. i heard too many negatives and it clouded my head that only saw myself as a vet:( now i’m too scared that it would take too long and i still cannot bring myself to commit to it.

there’s really no one to blame but myself and i don’t know who to share bmy feelings with. i genuinely do not know what to do

Saint Xavier University Finally Has a Subreddit! (r/SXU)

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I created r/SXU because I wanted Saint Xavier University to have a community similar to what many other colleges have on Reddit. As a shy student, I know it can be difficult to meet people, ask questions, or find others with similar interests, especially at a commuter school. My hope is that this subreddit can become a place where students, alumni, faculty, and future students can connect, help each other out, and feel more involved in the SXU community.

Whether you're looking for study advice, class recommendations, campus information, friends, study groups, gym buddies, or just a place to talk about SXU, everyone is welcome. Come check out r/SXU! ((:

i'm currently a g12 student in qc, and i'm hoping to ask your thoughts :')

i have a friend group and we formed last year, g11. we got close because parati kami gumagala and we're all classmates since same strand. i know that they're individually okay friends!

i'll start with one of the conflicts, where sinabi ko kay friend A that friend B might not be the best influence and i wanted her thoughts because friend C has been taking the influence like cursing. i asked friend A about this because i know that she's loyal, but i'm not sure also if she told friend B and C because the following week, she also treated me like a wall but acted normally before that same week ended.

however, friend B started ignoring me/ghosting me despite me messaging her and asking if may nagawa akong mali (wala daw) and if meron then i also said i apologize for it and hope we're goods (but she did not reply to the part when i said hoping we are goods). i would describe her na masaya siya kasama and is the life of the party, but also holds a level of power because wherever she is nandun din yung barkada, and since the other members of the fg are tied towards her and medyo unwelcoming yung vibe kung nandun ako, i get isolated when they do their thing.

moreover, the other friend i used to be close with "ni-refer" ko sa kanila since we're all co-heads for our org, naging closer sila but outed me. and since ina-out ako ni friend B ish nagiging sila lang and nagttiktok sila together and take photos together during big events. they laugh together during free time, make inside jokes with each other na di maggets ng lahat, and idk if it's just me that feels unwelcome.

it's not that i'm jealous, but it's also how i feel betrayed since they were my og friends at the start of shs and it's as if i'm left in the cold? nagiging conscious ako with whoever i'm with, especially if i'm alone. i also asked my og high school friend (other section) about this but she also just brushed it off and just ended the convo, so i don't know if ginagawa ko lang to big issue or what? do i just suck this up until graduation? :')

Support/Venting Academic Survey Forum: Responses Needed

Hey everyone!

I’m currently researching a new hospitality concept called The Ceylon Pier, a proposed beachfront dining experience in Sri Lanka, and I’d really appreciate your input.

I’m conducting a short survey to understand what people would actually enjoy, which activities appeal to them, and what price ranges would feel reasonable.
I’d love to hear your thoughts!

It should take just a few minutes, and your feedback will help me understand what would make this concept genuinely worth visiting.

👉 Survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScIT8_depSEDerxbq2KUqdh1783F6kTaKD84Q6IQi4XW-o48Q/viewform

Even if this isn’t your kind of experience, I’d appreciate hearing why in the comments. Honest feedback is welcome!
Thanks for taking the time to help. ❤️
