Updating a list from based off of a thread by /u/sunpoprain
Townies, please feel free to add your favorites below and I'll add them to the list, so when I repost for that sweet, sweet karma, I'll include them over and over again. Also, let me know if there is anything that needs to be taken off.
If you've got a student ID, you can ride the Connect Transit buses for free... so use them to explore town a bit!

I live in an apartment building owned by Young America and the water bill is split between all tenants. I have lived here for a couple years and just recently they started charging for water usage. There was an issue about 4 months ago when they sent out the first water bill I had received from them and I noticed that it seemed high. I ended up emailing them and asking for the master water bill to understand why it could be this high and they sent it, but said that there was nothing wrong. Then about a week later I get a message from them saying they have been alerted of abnormal water usage in the building and were going to send maintenance to figure out what the issue is. After this the bill did decrease and seemed like whatever the issue was had gotten fixed. Until today I get another message saying the same thing. I then go to check my water bill and it is over $100. For reference over the last 4 months it was been $89, $65, $61, and $38. I don’t know much about the laws regarding this and if in a situation like this I am still required to pay that much when it is known that there is an issue causing the usage to be that high. If anyone knows more about this and can help inform me I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.

Where are the best places in town for good drinks and live music? Or nearby? Not interested in Six Strings because I don’t like country music. I thought I remembered Coffeehouse having live music- do they still do that? I need plans for Saturday November 7th, but also just wondering if there are any hidden gems I don’t know about :) thanks!

My little one wants to have a little black paint for whiskers and a little nose to look a bit like a cat tomorrow.
Any rules against this that you are aware of?
Appreciate any help!

This picture is becoming somewhat infamous on the internet and I’m just wondering.. Is there anyone that can provide some sort of context on this picture that’s circulating? “The biblical case for mass deportation and preserving our American heritage.” I hesitate to believe this level of hate exists in our town but it’s becoming very clear it does.
First question is, do these people actually exist in our community, and why are we not doing more to stop them? Second question, do the people in this photograph even realize what they’re standing for and how horrible the implications are? The oldest looks may be mid-20s, and there’s no possible way that they fully understand what’s going on here.
If this is what Christianity is all about, then it’s sickening.

I bought tickets for the Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me show on November 12, not realizing it isn’t in Chicago. I just want to recoup the cost. Let me know if you’re interested.

sitting in traffic in uptown, suddenly every cop car in sight lit up and pulled U Turns, and in total about 8 cop cars flew down North St and Linden. Very much an “all units respond” kind of thing. thought I saw them all lined up where Haunted Trail let out, but not certain.
EDIT: accident at Virgina and Center.

Why would this man come to my door at 7:30 at night asking for my 28 year old daughter BY NAME when my wife and I are also registered voters at this address? Coming to someone's house and asking for them by name isn't personable its creepy.

If Bloomington - Normal was a deadly sin which it would be?
I’ll be first - BloNo would be sloth😂 It is the kind of town that doesn't kill your dreams. It just tucks them into bed at 8:30 PM.
Even existential crises happen here without much drama. Its when you want to sin, seduce, ruin lives, experience a passionate, doomed love affairs but somehow, you end up driving to Walmart to buy milk.
Bloomington's official motto: "You can become anything you want. But why bother?"

Looking for housing in the Blo-No area and I need help. When I needed recommendations for local bakeries last month you guys came in clutch (shoutout to Janet’s Cakes and Catering)! My lease is up in December so I need to get a move on. I heard good and bad things about Young America (and even worse things about Class Act) so I’m not sure there but in any case they don’t really have vacancies until February.
I have an okay credit score I guess (660) and make about $3900 a month before taxes. I have no kids or pets and I’m looking for a 1 bedroom, preferably with in unit laundry, but I’ll settle for on-site laundry if I have to. Price range between $900 min to $1100 max.
Anybody know anything about Apartment Mart or have a recommendations on apartment complexes here in town? I’m open to private renting too.

I’m sorry if this is not the type of stuff this sub is for, but I’m freaking out a little…. pls i realize how ridiculous i sound but i’m lost lol
It sounds like there is an animal in the circled spot. The room to the right is where my furnace and watering heater are, left is a full bath. I don’t hear the animal running around in the furnace room, it seems to be stuck between the gap in drywall between the two rooms.
I hear like scratching/moving but not any other ‘animal noises.’
I know the solution is to open the door, but i’m a first time home buyer, and my baby is asleep. I don’t want to open a can of worms right now. I’m also terrified of it dying and smelling, or worse, it biting something in the room (if I’m wrong and it is roaming).
Any recommendations besides opening it?!? Or idea what it could be? Or anyone i can call in the morning? pls be specific on who to call if possible!
