On my brand new Apple Watch Ultra 4. Just incredible.

This used to be one of the main things I used my Apple Watch for. Now it can no longer set timers by voice.

WatchOS Handwashing Timer is Gone

I picked up my Apple Watch Ultra 4 this weekend and I was surprised that Apple has removed the handwashing feature from the Series 12 and the Ultra 4. It’s still available on every other watch that runs the current WatchOS, but not the two newest. I’m sure it wasn’t the most popular feature, but I used it all day long and it was such a nice quality of life feature. I sent feedback through the portal to Apple. If you want to as well, I attached the link to this post. Here’s to hoping they bring it back.

Discussion Siri AI is massively better now on Apple Watch

After downloading and installing the new Apple WatchOS 27.2 on my Ultra 4, I can now say that Siri AI works as I expected it to. It’s extremely fast in terms of the response now, and it no longer just stops listening when I try to give a request. Thank you so much, Apple!

My Watch AW U2 ➡️ AW Series 12

Made the (side?) grade just a little over a week ago from Ultra 2 to Series 12. Got a Series 10 when they first came out, then quickly transitioned to an Ultra 2 for the more premium feel and extra features. Found myself missing the sleeker, less bulky feel of the Series watches. Decide it would be a good time when the 12 came out for better health tracking.

-Noticeably faster to the touch
-Feels thinner and lighter than any other series watch? (Could be because I am coming from an Ultra and haven’t had a series in a while)
-One thing I really disliked about my Series 10 was it felt like the Digital Crown was always getting in the way of my wrist. Haven’t experienced that issue at all with the Series 12 (again could be a transition experience)
-The dark bronze color is awesome. It can look like many different types of shades depending on lighting which is cool
-Being able to display steps on the watch face without a third party app is awesome
-The battery life is great. I keep always on display on which may play a factor into this, but the battery life feels pretty comparable to the Ultra 2’s battery life.

Honestly, I just found myself not using as many of the ultra features as I thought I would. Plus the desire of a sleeker look and less bulk, decided I might as well make the trade in while the value of the Ultra 2 was still high. Originally was between the natural titanium version of the 12, or this aluminum. Really been liking this one so far.

Trending r//r/popular Annoying— official Chinese charger doesn’t charge US watches

Post image

UPDATE… concierge suggested an electronics store, but I had a friend order a third party charger off Menuitean (sp?). It arrived in 20 minutes. Chinese logistics are amazing.

Lost my charger while in China. Went to Apple Store, bought new charger, go back to my hotel and see this. Really Apple?

Discussion Ultra 4 & Series 12 Titanium First Impressions

I wanted to offer my first impressions of the Ultra 4 and the Series 12 Ti in case there is anyone like me who is considering one or both. I purchased them both with the intention of only keeping one. I've had them for a little over 24 hours so don't have much experience with them yet.

I come from years of wearing mechanical watches, mostly in the 38-40mm range. I've always loved traditional watches, but I feel it's time to switch it up and take advantage of some smart features around my lifestyle. I've worn an Apple Watch years ago, but I won't really be able to compare these to older models. This post is probably for someone looking to get their first in either line.

I will mostly just be taking about feel. I think most people reading this already know the specs, battery life, etc. For reference, I have a ~7in wrist. Also, I got both in the Milanese Loop for both, which I think works extremely well for both.

AWU 4

This thing looks so cool to me. Looks just as cool, toolsy, and sporty in person as it does in pictures. The looks is what initially drew me towards the Ultra. The flat screen with defined edges is so nice. The Ultra-exclusive watch faces are also so nice and what really completes it for me. I typically wouldn't go for a watch this size, but I really do love this screen, and the watch as a whole, to make the jump. I think you either really love the aesthetic of the case or you don't. The action button is a really nice bonus, but I don't think I would feel lost without it.

The Ultra definitely is a presence on your wrist. Especially if you've never worn a smart sports watch like an Ultra or a large Garmin, it will probably feel like a little bit of a shock at first. I am at least used to having some weight on my wrist, and I feel myself already getting used to the size. I even slept with it last night. It's impossible to not notice it when going to sleep, but once asleep, I was able to stay asleep without it bothering me. This is also something that will feel more natural with time I believe.

AW S12 Ti

This one is sooo sleek. If budget allows and you are set on the S12, I strongly recommend getting the Titanium. It looks so premium and versatile. I wouldn't hesitate wearing it to a more formal setting. I am not sure I can say the same about the Ultra as much as I love it. The slim, light profile really does kind of disappear on your wrist. If you don't want to feel like you're wearing a watch, this watch will make you happy, and as I mentioned above, I think the versatility is its other really big strength. I plan to sleep with this one tonight, and I don't think I'll be thinking about it being on my wrist much at all, especially after a successful night with the Ultra.

Here's a little bit of a kicker: I am trying out the 42mm rather than the 46. Personal taste, I just really appreciate the understated look when it comes to this watch. I'm not sure if it's due to the rounded screen or what, but I just like the smaller size in the S12. So I am testing out two ends of the spectrum basically, lol.

Final Thoughts

I went into this with the intention of only getting the Ultra, but then I wanted to also test out the S12 just in case the Ultra didn't work for me. I don't think you can go wrong either of these. I am by no means a serious athlete, but I see myself really appreciating what the Ultra brings. I know I would also love the sleek and versatile S12. This isn't to say that the Ultra is necessarily not versatile, but I think this is where the S12 shines over the Ultra.

I am not 100% decided yet, and I have flip-flopped over the last day, but if I had to choose right now, I would probably slightly lean Ultra. I think my heart is saying Ultra and my head is saying S12. I find myself more excited to put on the Ultra and look at the screen over the S12, and that's probably what will ultimately make the decision for me. With that said, it will certainly be a tough decision and I will be sad to let one go, as keeping both is just not an option for me.

I hope this can maybe help someone who is trying to decide or maybe isn't able to try both. I do not consider myself an expert on these devices by any means, but I would be happy to answer any questions I can. Or maybe there are folks who can offer their experience as well.

My Watch Broke my Series 10 watch, Apple replaced it with Series 12

So I had Series 10 natural Titanium 42mm GPS + cellular.
I had Apple care on it. Broke it at the GYM, did the express replacement where they ship the watch to you.

To my surprise it was Series 12 Natural titanium 42mm GPS + cellular. I guess they didn’t have the titanium ones in series 10 as those sell less so they don’t keep a lot of back stock.

I am not complaining tho, this watch came out only last month! The battery life is awesome. The battery health on my damaged watch was 90% so the difference in battery duration is huge!

My Watch Battery life during the day

• Upvotes

I have a Series 8 GPS Apple Watch and I use my iPhone connected to my vehicles Bluetooth to stream podcasts, live radio, music. I do drive for a living. I have noticed that when I do this, the watch battery is down to about 25-30% at the end of the day. Whereas on weekends when I’m not driving the watch battery does not drain as much when it’s not being used on the road. Is there a way to remedy this so that the battery doesn’t drain as fast?

WatchOS Ability to WRITE to Siri AI on WatchOS?

Maybe I'm in the minority but I would really love the ability to type to Siri on my UW2 instead of voice dictating. There are times where I don't bring my phone with me at the gym and it would be nice to simply type my inquiry in rather than having to voice it outloud.

Anyone else interested in this being a feature in the future?

WatchOS AW12 “shuffle playlist favorites”

Post image
1 Upvotes

I did a little experiment. I took my watch off cellular alert and powered down my phone and went for a walk. I said, “hey Siri, shuffle playlist favorites”.

So much for on-device intelligence. As soon as I enabled cellular, it worked.

I think I can accomplish this by generating a shortcut. But I’m still pretty disappointed.

27.2.

Activity Watch / iPhone fitness goals not holding according to schedule

For some reason, either my watch or my iPhone fitness app is toggling my fitness goals for the red green and blue circles off departing from my goal schedule, is anyone having the same issue?

Example
I have my red ring set to 700 cal daily, but it keeps reverting to like 500 cal. Same with the green ring and blue ring. Pretty annoying. So basically I think that I’ve reached my goal, but then I realize that the goal has been set wrong! Haha

I’ve tried restarting my phone and my watch, I even found an Apple Help forum with a very specific restart order between the two devices, but even that didn’t help it. I’m also on the latest updates for each.

Anybody experienced this, anybody have a resolution?

Support Should a Series 3 still handle Messages just fine?

I’m not a watch guy in general, but I was given a Series 3 hand me down and figured I might wear it at times.

It’s a cellular model so it has twice the memory of the GPS only. Battery is great, lasts all day.

All I really would like out of it:

  1. the TIME
  2. my TEXTS

I’ve gone and uninstalled all watch apps I can, and also turned off all watch notifications from apps that I can. To try to reduce processing burden.

And yet it still doesn’t properly sync iMessages. A text will come in to my phone and I’ll reply to it or delete it and check my watch minutes later… then hours later… and it’s not synced.

Anything else I can try? Phone is a 15.

EDIT: To clarify, SOME texts are showing up on the watch. Just not all, not consistently.

Thank you!!

Discussion How long has your watch lived for with regular swimming?

I never owned a smart watch before and I'm planning to buy a Series 12
I will be swimming with it 3 times a week 1 hour each in a chlorinated pool
I'm looking to hear from others who have done about the same with previous watches how long it will approximately last for before the water seal degrades and issues come up.

Bands S12 Radiant Gold X Kendra Scott

I love my Milanese loop but I want another SS band. Plus as a barber the loop will catch a lot of hair.

I wanna try out some Amazon options but I was fortunate to see one on discount at TJMAXX!

I was so amazed it matches the gold tone of my S12. Kinda wanting the natural Titanium but this band gave me the best of both worlds! (The Ceramic is Fire too!)

I just wanna share with those who wanted this kind of style don’t sleep on some deals on Tjmaxx.

(I really wanna cop the White Ceramic KS band it was discontinued 😞)

Discussion Sleep metrics?

Post image
0 Upvotes

What does the AW measure when it gathers sleep metrics? I may notice when I wake up once or twice at night, but otherwise, I’m just rolling over to my other side. Is it counting such movement as being awake?
