Hey everyone!
I run a small animation studio. While everything we deliver is still custom, we do use AI every day as an internal assistant to get to the boring work faster.
1. Visualizing vague client ideas before we design anything
Instead of spending 2-3 days designing directions that might be totally off, we generate 10-15 quick visual interpretations first. Not for final use. To align on: does "human" mean warm colors + hand-drawn textures, or real people inside a tech world?
2. References for stuff that's hard to find or shoot
This is our most-used one. A clear guidance for the artist:
Think of it as a super-powered visual research assistant. You still draw/model everything, you just start from a clear target.
3. Expressions, scripts and boring automation
Huge time saver if you're not an expression wizard:
4. The AI that's already inside AE + Premiere
Two we use constantly:
5. Character performance refs for tricky movement
We don't generate final animation. We generate references for body mechanics when it's impractical to film. For example, wrong proportions, impossible camera angle, stylized character.
What helps most is seeing silhouette, weight shift, and how one pose could transition to the next. Then our animators do the real blocking on top of that.
6. Fixing renders instead of re-rendering
Before you re-render for 6 hours or re-shoot:
Bottom line for us: don't ask "How can AI do my job?". Instead, ask "How can AI remove the boring exploration so I can do my job faster?"
What's the AI use you've actually kept in your workflow?

I'm a VFX artist / motion designer, and I kept hitting the same problem with AI in After Effects: it says "done", but you can't see what it actually changed, and a "harmless" cleanup can quietly shift a layer by 2px.
So I built Surehand. It connects the AI app you already use (Claude, ChatGPT, Codex...) to After Effects, and checks the work:
A panel in AE sets what the AI may do (everything, confirm each change, or read only), and one button stops it.
Free, MIT, Mac and Windows, AE 2025 and 2026. It doesn't generate images or footage.

I gave AI the same creative challenge in both applications and let it work through the animation process.
Interestingly, After Effects performed better in terms of speed and animation quality. Fusion also produced a usable result, but it took more effort to get there.
I documented the entire experiment, including the results.
Curious what other motion designers think. Have you tried letting AI control either application directly?

I’m not selling it, it took a day to vibe code. You can just do it yourself. and I assume Adobe will be releasing their next version with something far better, but it lets me see the future where Claude code works right in your Adobe apps with you and can take over the tedious tasks. Or build things entirely and then you change them.
I just built a rough chart in AE and then told Claude to grab data on the topic and update the chart accurate to 2022 data. And it just did it. In about a minute, In after effects. Then it rendered the section so it could confirm it was accurate. Isn’t that crazy?
Who else is doing this? Using Claude to control Premiere and After Effects?

A little fluid experimentation in Alloy Studio, bringing simulation, materials, lighting and camera controls together in the browser.
Alloy Studio is a workspace for motion graphics, 3D and VFX, and it’s free to use while in beta.
If you’re a motion graphics artist, I’d love for you to give it a try. Experiment, make something, and tell me what works for you and what needs improving. I’d love to see what you create.

Hey everyone! 👋
I'm looking to connect with someone who creates 3D architectural walkthroughs or motion graphics videos for real estate developers.
The idea is to show how a building or apartment project will look once construction is completed, using realistic 3D renders, exterior/interior visualizations, and cinematic walkthrough videos.
If you work in this space or know someone who does, please comment or DM me. Would love to connect and discuss a potential collaboration! 🤝
