My first ever monster hunter game was Monster Hunter World(PC). My friend told me to buy it so we could play together. I have 0 knowledge on the franchise/gameplay/gameplay loop.
It's been out in console for months at that point so I watched a couple of videos of it and thought looks fun!
I then watched weapon video guides and most of the YouTubers said Sword and Shield is a very good starting weapon so I thought I'll just use that.
Release day comes, August 9th 2018. I did a couple of hunts and found the Sword and Shield "boring". I mean compared to what I've seen to other weapons on the video guides that has like explosions, jumping slashes and HUGE wind ups.
I then rewatched some video guides and tried Charge Blade next. Video guides also said "Charge Blade is one of the most complex weapons in the game." And I was like "How hard could it be?"
First few hunts were horrible! But it didn't take me too long to get the hang of the loop of Charge Blade.
No shield charge:
Charge → Bank → Charge → Charge Shield → Bank → SAED
With shield charge:
- Charge → Bank → SAED
- Charge → Bank → Charge → SAED → Bank → SAED.
- Etc (AED is here)
Having a shield is really nice too. As a beginner playing MH, i'm not familiar with the small details and attack animations of the monsters so having a shield really helped me out.
I then practiced how to Guard Point. I practiced on Diablos, since it has a very predictable move set. Once I got the hang of it, it became second nature AND IT IS SO DAMN SATISFYING.
Diablos rushing and getting its horns break upon hit. Nergigante dive bombing and getting KOed on impact. I feel like Gandalf shouting "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"
Tldr: I think if Charge Blade is one of the first weapon you've tried it wouldn't feel too complex 😂

Pretty basic question for all my fellow hunters. With Lao coming back in Ascendance what do we expect for them to change up about the hunt?

You know those times where you laying to go to sleep and have sudden inspiration? Yeah, well there I was last night thinking of Gravios, as one does, when I realized the torso I built for him would be a perfect starting point for Ukanlos and Akantor. Cut to 1:30 this morning where a very tired me had a complete Black God and White God built, and second gen as a whole finished.
! Warning ! : The two parts shown in the last render were miscolored on Akantor. Those pieces don't exist in the dark tan used for his tusks and dark gray used for his hind legs. This is fixed in the parts list on Rebrickable, but the renders and instructions still feature him with the wrong colors. Also, these guys are far less posable than I'd have liked, with their legs only having limited vertical rotation.

just out of curiosity, how well do yall think the wild kratts (and maybe the rest of the cast like aviva, coky, jimmy and the villains) would deal with the monster hunter world if they were to be teleported there, as hapenned with geralt?
heck, now i want a fanfic about this.

Im like 50 hrs into iceborn (I’m a slow player, I’m taking my time) and so far it’s great.
I may be going a little insane sometimes (ähem Brachydios is hell on earth, but it always gets worse… ähem Barioth) but most monsters so far are cool and fun to fight.
Special shoutout to my favorite dlc monster so far, Bonboro! Their armor is the best!
Special F*ck you to the Barioth, it took 10 damn hours from me, why is that thing so damn hard to fight?!?

While looking at footage for Pokaradon from monster hunter frontier, I had stopped for a moment to actually look at it's biology. While yes, it's design IS based off of pinnipeds like seals and walruses, it's anatomy actually leans closer to sirenians, specifically the Protosiren (Listed in page 2)
The reason why I say this is simply in the tail. There are some people who probably believe that the back flippers of pinnipeds are stemmed from tails, but the thing is that the back flippers of pinnipeds are legs, so unless Pokaradon's tail just evolved to be REALLY large, or it actually has 6 limbs (Impossible in monster hunter taxonomy considering it's a leviathan) then this is without a doubt, NOT a seal.
With that it was either a cetacean, or a sirenian. Now you look at this damn thing and tell me it alludes to whale so I can smack you on the head, no doubt it's a sirenian!
So in MY theory (And headcanon) Pokaradon is the descendant of Protosirens who, in an effort to withstand the frozen environments of the Polar Sea, adapted a larger body size and convergently evolved to resemble large pinnipeds like walruses due to the same circumstances, and are actually more closely related to creatures like manatees and dugongs, along with the extinct Stellar's sea cow
....And so with them technically by this case being in the clade Tethytheria, their closest in-universe relative is Gammoth.

Like the buildup with the singing vocals, the screen getting a deep red flush as the shamisen in the back goes INSANE, the sound of the rain and thunder becoming DEAFENING as we get a good look at Amatsu's form, the vocals reaching a crescendo as the lightning strikes illuminate it from behind, the pose itself from Amatsu, the name LOOMING CALAMITY, god just everything works so well and I don't know a single other cutscene from the series that builds such an amazing atmosphere for a boss

We got the Heavy Metal armor second at the base of Lao's neck, Raithan armor next to them, someone in the battle armor (Which I believe is from MH1 but feel free to correct me) on the far right, and then the other GS user I think is wearing the Origin set from world, which iirc is based on an armor set from MH1. I tired to look it up to make sure, but the MHwiki only shows one armor set, and the other one just lists them with no pictures.

But I don't know how to tackle this. The sweater is dark blue. Should I play it safe and just do the outlines with white or risk ruining it by filling this completely?
what would you guys suggest?
I'd have to order a lot of yarn first

So I was just grinding my HR to 50 in MR events and suddenly this person decided to help me. It was so fun to see a very experienced player in action.
How can someone even reach such a level 😭 anyways, thank you stranger or it would have taken a few more mins for me to finish it (it's my first sos flair as I only play with one of my friends as a duo)

I was chased and fought by the Guardian Ebony Odogaron but it was a hard and tough fight to go against him but before we gave each other a final blow, Mizustune burst in and attacked Odogaron while protecting me. At the end, he and I work together to take that guraidans down and part ways in peace
