Election Time! In-Person Absentee Voting begins Tuesday Oct 20!
In-Person Absentee Voting (aka early voting) begins Tuesday October 20 through October 31 for the Nov. 3 election.
Anyone who is legally eligible to vote can do so at their city's locations (ie. if you live in Madison, you can vote at the Madison locations, but if you live in Monona, you can only vote at the Monona locations). You'll need to bring an approved form of ID with you to vote. Here's a list of approved IDs. One that tends to trip people up is that out of state driver's license are NOT an approved ID. If you've moved here and haven't gotten around to changing you driver's license, check the approved list linked above for what other options you have (like a passport) or get to it and get that driver's license changed.
Not registered? Not a problem! You can register to vote at the time of voting, even early voting. Here's a page that talks about the requirements for registering to vote. There is a link on that page to the registration form that you can fill out online, print and bring with you, but if you don't have a printer, no problem, you can just fill out the form at the voting locations. Along with voter ID, you'll also need a proof of residence. Here's a list of options for proof of address. For many of those options, you may be able to pull them up on your phone to show them when registering. Having worked elections for over 15 yrs, I'd say having to register while voting adds from 5-10 min to the process.
Myvote.wi.gov is going to be your go to site for your voter information. You can preview what your ballot will look like, confirm if you are already registered, find your voting location if you want to wait until election day to vote, and track your ballot. For those outside of Madison, at the top of the Myvote site, click on "Vote Absentee In Person", enter your address, and your local locations and times will be provided.
Voter Guides:
This post is for voting information, not for debating. Any such comments on this post will be removed. However, if you have questions about the voting process, feel free to ask. Myself and many users of this subreddit have worked as election officials and are very familiar with the voting process.

Missing Sweatshirt
I have a friend who went to the badger football game on Saturday. On her walk to the field she lost her late mothers sweat shirt. Once she noticed the immediately retraced her steps and could not find it. She noticed before they even made it to the game. So someone more than likely picked it up and kept it for them selves. Since this is her late mother's sweatshirt it has a lot of sentimental meaning, shes pretty upset she's lost it. They were on the lakeshore path when it was lost. It is a red quarter zip with a small "W" on the left side. If you left Saturday night with more sweatshirts you came with can you please check if any of them meet that description. No consequences of taking the sweatshirt. She just wants it back since it was her mom's.
Thank you!!

Stolen Bike on Brearly St
galleryHi all,
My red Trek 730 Multitrack was stolen off my front porch most likely on Saturday, October 24th in the Tenny Lapham Neighborhood near Breese Stevans Field. It was my first Father’s Day present and my main way of getting around town. Please if anyone sees it let me know! Thank you.

Best live fish store in the area? Rip big kahuna
I wouldn’t mind driving a bit for a nicer more fairly priced fish store, but with the new changes to big kahuna, it takes that store out of the question, I need a place where I can confidently buy fish. Please help!!!

Dyslexia Evaluation?
Hi there! My son has exhibited symptoms of possible dyslexia since 4th grade, but due to COVID and other factors, we've been unable to get him an evaluation through school. Unfortunately, GHC just denied the evaluation referral for UW Health and I'm back to square one. Can anyone suggest somewhere to go and hopefully not pay an exorbitant amount out of pocket? I suspect he needs a 504 plan, but I need a formal evaluation first. His school is unable to help with an evaluation or really any referral other than, "talk to his doctor." Sigh. Thanks!!

Does Meat People Butcher still offer classes? Any other hands-on butchery classes around Madison?
Looking for a birthday gift for my partner, who’s mentioned that he’d love to take a butchery class.
Meat People Butcher apparently used to offer classes on breaking down beef, pork, lamb, etc., but their classes page now seems to be unavailable. Does anyone know if they’re still offering these?
I’d also love recommendations for other butchery classes in Madison or the surrounding area (willing to drive an hour for something really worthwhile).
Thanks!

Dear Madison Parks Department, it's been 70° all October. Why are park bathrooms closed?
We've had like two hours of sub freezing temperature this month. Nothing sub 45 forecasted through the test of the month. Wtf?

Are these bald eagles? Seen above tenney park
Saw these two flying above Tenney Park. Apologies for the picture quality but it looks like a white tail and head and they were certainly big.

1400 Jennifer Street Are you missing this cat?
galleryMy partner and I found this cat on the 1400 block of Jenifer Street, it wasn't acting like I would expect an outdoor cat to and we thought it might have escaped. If you recognize this cat please let me know! Pretty friendly but was running around meowing like it was scared almost.
Edit to add: This cat has been taken to DCHS as we are unable to hold him at my apartment (we have our own cat who isn't a fan of others) so if s/he is yours please contact them!

Job Hunting
Hi everyone! I recently lost my job and am looking for new opportunities. With the cost of my current rent I would need at least 25 an hour to pay rent and still have some money for food. Ive been looking into property management recently and would be a great fit for any type of managing position. I have great people skills and a couple of advanced degrees. Anyone have any leads that are actively hiring?
