r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

UPDATE — August 13, 2026

rgl.deals has grown a bit since I originally posted, so I wanted to give this post a update while it's still in BETA.

The idea is still simple: instead of showing you hundreds of gaming laptops, RGL keeps a smaller shortlist of deals that are actually worth considering.

Every listing is manually checked, with things like price, specs, cooling, display quality, GPU power limits, memory, storage, and overall value taken into account.

A lot of care has also gone into the smaller details. The site is heavily optimized for phones and smaller screens, not just desktop. Filters, comparisons, laptop pages, navigation, and general usability were all designed to work properly on mobile without feeling like a cut-down version of the site.

What's on the site now:

  • Curated gaming laptop deals with current and previous prices.
  • Filters for price, GPU, CPU, VRAM, RAM, screen size, brand, retailer, and more.
  • Gravity Sort, RGL's default value-based ranking.
  • Sorting by price, discount, savings, and other options.
  • Find a Match for narrowing down laptops based on what actually matters to you.
  • Side-by-side comparison for up to three laptops.
  • Detailed laptop pages with specs, price history, related models, retailer links, and review links.
  • Shareable searches, comparisons, and direct laptop links.
  • Mobile-first layouts and controls designed specifically for smaller screens.
  • No advertising trackers or marketing cookies. Preferences and saved comparisons stay in your browser.

RGL is meant to be a shortlist, not a giant catalog. If a laptop isn't worth recommending, it doesn't need to be there and that means no huge lists its quality over quantity.

The longer-term plan is also bigger than just deals. RGL is being built into a broader gaming laptop specific place with guides, buying information, laptop data, reviews, and other useful resources all in one place.

Full transparency: Some retailer links are affiliate links. That doesn't affect the listed price or determine which laptops make the shortlist.

RGL currently covers U.S. deals only, with more regions planned later.

It's still beta, so there will be bugs and things that need improving. If you find something broken or have feedback, leave it below any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks.

Discussion Anyone who still chose a laptop even if you don't move it around much?

I've got my Legion pro 7i and for those 2 years since I bought it and I pretty much use it plugged in like a desktop replacement. I always wonder what if I got a desktop instead. People always say it's a waste of money because desktops tend to beat laptops with the same configs. But for me the space saving factor is big. I also like that laptops produce less heat in my bedroom in the summer. In case i want to move mine out of my room it'd be much easier (though it hasnt happened much). I could be wrong but in 2026 I can't seem to find a desktop that's much cheaper than a laptop with the same configs.

Accessories My 3070 laptop still runs fine, but the IPS screen is washed out. Anyone using a portable OLED?

• Upvotes

My Lenovo Legion lasted for a couple of years. It handles everything fine The GPU works adequately for the games I play, but the built-in IPS panel bothers me a whole lot. The backlight bleed is noticeable, especially in dark games, and after seeing my friends OLED laptop, I find it hard to go back to my old laptop.

I just don’t have the budget at the moment to drop 2k+ on a new gaming laptop. My laptop runs just fine. I have nowhere to set up a monitor that’s anywhere bigger than 27-inch. I am ok with just setting something temporary.

I looked around on Amazon but most of the standard budget portable screens seem to be capped at 60Hz. Saw this Uperfect GR16HQ model that supposedly has a 16-inch 3K OLED panel, running at 120Hz. One thing though, it relies on one of those magnetic smart covers to stand up instead of a built-in kickstand, so I’m a bit worried it’ll slip or wobble on my desk during intense gaming.

Has anyone here actually tried gaming on a portable OLED display via Type-C? Does pushing the display through the USB-C port, does it lag? Is this set up viable or am I wasting my time? So any input would be great.

Showcase How I got my gaming laptop 🥹 ✌

So... I got an ASUS TUF Gaming A15!

My story is I used to have a Lenovo G580 THAT was passed down to me by my dad (back around 2017). The laptop on the left was that Lenovo G580—it was upgraded to 6GB RAM, a 480GB SSD, an Intel i3-3110M, and a GeForce 610M. Recently, it was struggling a lot with my Godot game development.

My big bro had a PC too (no GPU, Intel i5-6500, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD), but he only gave me limited time on it... I remember he used to take it back from me forcefully. Also, my cousin had a laptop better than mine and I was really jealous about it, but then he got a PC with an Intel 6500, a GeForce GT 730, and 16GB RAM.

Initially, my budget was around 10k Indian Rupees, but my dad straight up told me that he should buy me a futureproof PC instead. Before getting this laptop, we were actually planning to build a desktop. We researched a lot to find out what is good and what's bad.

When we went to a shop, the PC guy there tried to sell us an RX 550 system for 55K INR. I said nah, because I had watched ZTT (Zach's Tech Turf) and Meta PCs for like a year, so I knew the RX 550 was bad value!

Then we saw a random laptop in the shop. My dad told me to use my point of view, so I checked it out, selected this laptop, and my dad bought it for me... 🥹✌️

Just for fun, I put Linux on the old Lenovo G580 and did a quick boot test against the new ASUS TUF A15:

• ASUS TUF A15 (Modern NVMe SSD): (AROUND) 14 seconds

• Lenovo G580 (Linux + Older SSD): (AROUND) 25 seconds

Linux completely saved the old machine from becoming absolute e-waste, but man, it feels good to finally have a modern gaming rig of my own. No more strict time limits or hand-me-downs! Anyways, thanks for listening :D --GlintedRover

Recommendation Why would this be a bad option

Post image

Budget: $1400

Country: USA

Use Case: School and Gaming

Preferred Specs: 5060, less than 16 inch

Notes:I have an ASUS zephyrus G14 2022, I am thinking of upgrading it, this is one of the options with the open box being 1012 but currently sold out, if it does come back why shouldn't I jump on it? For the budget less than 1400, and mostly looking at best value for money.

Hi i'm currently waiting for black friday laptop sales, but i really don't know what comps to aim for 1.2k budget.

Right now I see some 5060 with 16gb ram from that price range,
But is black friday sale usually big enough for me to aim 5070 in that budget?

What a good black friday deals for $1.2k?

Discussion Lucked into a Legion Pro 7. Need help setting it up.

• Upvotes

Recently purchased a Lenovo Legion Pro 7 16IAX10H. Couple questions to make sure I’m using it safely and properly and getting the most out of the machine:

-How can I tell if a surge protector is safe to use with this laptop?
-How do I adjust the settings to improve performance and/or reduce fan noise (if you can even do both at the same time which I’d assume you can’t)?
-How would you recommend taking care of a laptop with this much power? I already got a sleeve for protecting it when I take it on the go.
-Are there any other performance settings I should try to set up?

Thanks everyone. So excited to start my laptop gaming experience. Hopefully I see some of you in WoW Retail & WoW Forever

Recommendation $1200-1800 Laptop For Music Production

Budget: $1200-1800 USD
Country: Australia
Use Case: Music Production (gaming is secondary then general use)
Preferred Specs: 32gb RAM, 1tb ssd, rtx 3060 and up, 7 series ryzen cpu and higher (intel cpu is fine)
Notes: music production is most important so ram and cpu is highest priority, wont be playing AAA games or very competitively so gpu is secondary

Laptop specs:

Acer Nitro 5 (i5-12450H, RTX 4060)

I was playing on High settings.

Recommendation Laptop suggestions - <$3000 Cad

Budget: <$3000 cad (~2200 usd). I can go slightly over if its a *much* better deal but would prefer to stay under budget.

Country: Canada. I have family in USA so can also buy there if its a lot cheaper but it would be less convenient and probably wouldn't be able to return in time if I have any issues.

Use Case: Gaming (mostly grand strategy (stellaris, etc, planning to play EU5 eventually as well), as well as the occasional rpgs and the like, etc.), and programming (unity, etc.).

Preferred specs; Prefer 32 gb RAM (can go 16 if significantly cheaper and if I can upgrade later, but I figure might as well buy it now). I hear 5070 ti is a very good sweet spot in terms of cost/performance and would like to run the games I mentioned on at least decent settings, but from what I've seen those tend to push to the edge of my budget so if its overkill or if a 'worse' gpu is similar or good enough I'm open to recommendations. I heard stellaris and some games like it are limited by cpu speed so should be at least decent there, but I'm not familiar with those specifics unfortunately.

16" screen preferably, battery is negotiable; I'd hope its fine but willing to sacrifice in favour of other specs, weight is likewise negotiable.

From what I've seen so far I'm mostly looking at either the MSI Vector A16 HX or Acer Predator Helios Neo, both of which I've seen on sale or open box for ~3000 cad. Also considering whether its best to drop to 16 gb ram or a lower gpu like a 5060 to keep the cost within my budget. Open to other recommendations y'all think would also fit or just good laptops in this pricerange in general.

Also, do you think its worth waiting for black friday sales? I spoke to a few employees at a local canada computers and the vibe they gave was that they weren't expecting many good deals this year.

Support Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9 — Random keyboard issues with G, H, Esc and numpad keys. Anyone experienced this?

Hey everyone!
I have a Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9 (Type 83GS) with an Intel i5-12450HX and an RTX 4050, and I’ve recently started having some weird issues with the built-in keyboard.
The following keys randomly stop registering:
G
H
Esc
Numpad 7
Numpad /
Sometimes I have to press a key multiple times before it starts working again. The issue happens regardless of how long the laptop has been running, so it doesn’t seem to be related to startup or temperature.
I’ve tested an external USB keyboard, and it works perfectly fine.
I’m starting to suspect a hardware issue with the built-in keyboard, its connection, or possibly the keyboard controller, but I haven’t tested it in the BIOS yet.
Has anyone with a Lenovo LOQ experienced something similar?
Did you manage to fix it without replacing the keyboard?
Was it a hardware issue or something related to software/firmware?
If you had to replace the keyboard, how much did it cost?
I’d appreciate any advice before taking it to a repair shop. Thanks!

Support Should I repaste my Asus ROG Strix G16?

Hello, I recently bought an Asus ROG Strix G16 (2025) that has an i7-14650HX and RTX 5060. I also just found out it has liquid metal instead of thermal paste. I travel a lot so I wanted to know if it's better to repaste to PTM7950 while I haven't encountered issues yet or if it's alright to keep using the liquid metal even though I move the laptop a lot. I also undervolted the laptop in BIOS with a -80mv undervolt.

I also saw many posts of liquid metal leaking onto the motherboard, but they don't say if the laptop was used mostly stationary when it leaked or if they move and travel a lot with the laptop when it leaked. Also, is the Intel 14th gen CPU problem still around or has it been fixed?

Recommendation Gaming Laptop

Hi! Im looking for suggestions for gaming laptops and so far researching it on my own has been completely overwhelming. Seriously, I think my brain is about to pop out of my head. All I'm looking for is the basics. I've been using my MacBook for a while, but the storage is almost full (it's breaking my heart) so I think I need to make the jump to a real gaming laptop. I just have a couple of wants, enough storage so that I can redownload my many many mods on the sims and a couple games I NEED (roblox, planet zoo, and the sims).

Ideally I don't need to spend enough money to fund a down payment on a house. I'm a student with a part time job that literally just shut down for the season so funds are tight. Anyways, I really appreciate anyone who replies to this. I know there must be 100s of people asking for recommendations so anyone who responds to this is a real one.

Budget: $600

Country: USA

Use Case: Gaming

Preferred Specs: 1T storage

Notes: I need a lot of storage for mods and custom content
