Everyone needs a little help every once in a while

This is 50% a joke and 50% a real experiment.

I started a GoFundMe with a goal of $99,999.99 to see if the internet can help me buy back one year of my time. Not retire forever. Not never work again. Just one year where earning a paycheck does not have to be the thing every decision revolves around.

I like being productive. I want to spend the year learning, building things, volunteering, traveling a little, spending more time with friends and family, and working on things that matter to me even if they never make me money.

The goal is meant to replace roughly one year of income. I would live within a set budget, save some of it, account for fees and any taxes that may apply, and document what I actually do with the year.

And to be very clear, if you are choosing between this and somebody facing a medical emergency, disaster, homelessness, or another genuine crisis, donate to them instead. Seriously.

But if this makes you laugh or makes you curious and you genuinely have a few dollars you do not need, feel free to contribute or just share it.

Maybe nobody does. Maybe I get a year back. I want to find out.

My classmates and I have been given the incredible opportunity to take part in the United Nations simulation in New York this March. It's a chance to learn about international relations, diplomacy, and so much more, and for many of us, it could shape our future careers.
But the cost is over $2,000 per student, and for a lot of us, that's simply out of reach. Some of us work part-time while studying just to get by, and we're afraid of watching this opportunity slip away.

basically me and my family have been going through multiple rough times with lack of money, food and basic necessities. I really want to help myself with the stuff I need especially to do with education wise, I need revision books, stationery and all of that stuff. I would also like to help with food in my house, to make sure me and my siblings are well fed, full enough on the plate. And then I would also like to use some for myself likewise with the education, just getting myself together and giving me an awareness of what adulthood is like, please I would take anything I just want to be in a secure environment.

My name is Leigha. I was born and raised in Kingsport TN before moving to Asheville with my husband about 5 years ago. 

My mother and her 3 little boys live in Kingsport and faced a horrible tragedy of losing her fiancé and their father on Friday afternoon. Our family is asking for help during an incredibly difficult time.

On October 23, Bethany, my mother,  unexpectedly lost her fiancé, Corey. She and their three children are now facing a heartbreaking loss, along with serious financial challenges.

Bethany is trying to figure out how to keep up with everyday necessities, household bills, groceries, and transportation while grieving the loss of someone she loved.

We're asking our friends, family, and the Kingsport/Tri-Cities community to help us support her and the children.
