NEW RSO: PROPULSION CLUB

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hey Buffs!
Are you interested in aerospace engineering, mechanical design, electronics, and hands-on fabrication? Whether you're looking to gain real engineering experience or just passionate about high-performance propulsion systems, the Propulsion Club at CU Boulder is launching and looking for new members! (Yes, finally an aerospace club that is not about rockets)

Propulsion Club is a research-based student-led RSO dedicated to designing, fabricating and testing various propulsion systems. Every semester, we run multiple concurrent projects, meaning you can choose a team and project that aligns directly with your technical interests and schedule. We aim to keep each project team small so that every member gets hands-on experience and direct impact on the project rather than just sitting in background meetings. In the upcoming semester, we expect to launch two projects: impulse jet engine and brushless electric motor. As the club expands and matures, we will advance to more sophisticated engines in the later semesters.

Potential projects:
Combustion engines: Pulsejet, Turbojet, Turbofan, Turboshaft, Piston engines
Electrical: Brushless motor, Ionic thruster
Others: Afterburner, Thrust Vector Control, RCS, Kinetic energy recovery system

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic students from all majors and years(both undergrad and grad).

If you are interested, fill out our interest form to get added to the team roster and receive updates on the club! You may also DM me if you have any question regarding the club.

LOST Sandisk Hard Drive - Reward Offered

Posting this for my son who is not on Reddit. My son lost his Sandisk hard drive on campus somewhere between the law school and the Atlas building - he thinks it may have fallen out of his backpack. It has all his recent film footage needed for his film classes. He is trying to piece together backup files now in the cloud, but would be so much better to find his hard drive. Yes, I wish he had an apple AirTag on this! Hoping on a long shot that someone found it!

College student in Boulder looking for connections…

Greetings! I’m a 22 y/o black male from AL looking for open-minded friends or anything casual. I’m a student of an online school, but I’m staying about 5 mins from the CU campus for the winter.

If anyone is open to it, I’d love to connect. Some of my hobbies are gaming, hiking, listening to music, watching anime, and I’m a huge pothead!

Transfer Question

I’m planning to transfer to boulder as an OOS student from a CC with with around 25ish credits and my goal is to get into Leeds

My grades aren’t enough for direct admission into Leeds so I’m curious to know if taking another major and working my way within boulder is an option or realistic.

Easiest clubs/activities to get involved for nervous solo!?

Hello!

I'm posting on behalf of someone else who has been at CU for a few years who is really struggling with how hard it is to meet people. She's very quiet outwardly, but really social once she opens up, she's a foreign student, doesn't drink or really engage in stereotypical college party life and has found it really tough!

She really needs either groups that do things regularly, even just something super casual, or people to go to a coffee shop with, study together and just not feel alone all the time?

She has tried to join some groups but as I'm sure you all will understand, for people who aren't super extroverted or have someone to tag along with, it can be very intimidating just approaching an existing social group and joining alone etc.

I'm not from CU and don't have access to the resources so I really can't figure out what there is to offer.

Any advice and support would be greatly appreciated ❤️🙏

How expensive is bear creek?

Looking for housing next year and I’m realizing that bear creek might be worth it at only around 10k for the entire year. However, I’m not sure how much extra I would have to pay for things like a meal plan and other costs. Including all those additional costs, does anyone know the cost of living at bear creek in a 4 bed 2 bath with single rooms?

Boulder Acceptance Deadline?

Hello,

I recently got accepted as a transfer for the spring semester. Is there a deadline for when I need to accept my offer and submit the enrollment deposit? Boulder's website says it varies for transfer apps, so I'm wondering if anyone has had the same question here. I beleive some decisions don't get let out until early december, so I feel like I have time, but I want to make sure.

thanks

Transfer finding roommates

I am transferring to CU in the spring as a junior. I’ve been looking at apartments and since the market is pricier than I thought. I’m thinking about finding a roommate. Coming in later to school like this especially during the spring term, what is the best way to find a good like-minded roommate?

Theoretical health and safety check Question.

so- and this is totally theoretical- if my friend didn’t realize there was a specification for electronics, requiring they are UL approved… and may have bought an electric kettle for fun and found it was not UL approved but instead is cETL approved which is equivalent to a UL certification should they or should they not remove it from their dorm…..

like would an RSL be able to accept that as an alternative to UL approved or nah?

How successful are appeals for in-state tuition

Originally was denied for a cosigned loan with a non-parent relative. Appealing it off of ground 2 : assigning disproportionate weight to a singular factor.

Looking to see if anybody else has had success in having an appeal overturn?
