Yay for more Sousa! Here's hoping they take him with them (since he's dead to the past anyway) and he becomes part of the team.
WHERE'S TURBO DAMNIT I NEED MY FITZ. I know Ian was filming something else but DAMN I MISS HIM!
I wonder if, in giving Coulson these awesome powers, the writers were also setting Coulson up to potentially have a role in the movies again. I could see his abilities coming in handy if he ever joined SWORD.
Speaking of Roboulson, what was that with his eye at the end? Was he just powering on or did that EMP fuck him up somehow?

This episode was so meta. Aos writers predict the future
Help ive been abducted by aliens! I think they are commies, from the future.... that was an amazing line.
Not a fan of the agent carter show but its awesome they got one of the characters on.
Such a good episode
Jemma going undercover was such a good fail.
Coulson interviewing people was fun. Moooist
Nor black and white episode will be awesome
Did coulson get a memory wipe or is he evil for a bit. You decide.
Hype for next week!

u/TheWolfmanZ Jun 11 '20
Don't think he got a memory wipe. I think the flickering in his eyes was meant to show damage. Probably gonna be that his colour perception is fucked temporarily, hence the black and white theme next week

May not being able to breathe was a panic attack
155
u/Phifty56 Ward Jun 11 '20
It must have been exceptionally bad for her, since with all the stuff she's had to endure and suppress it might finally all be hitting her at once.

That kinda breaks my theory that they were exploring the idea of loosing a soul (like with Sayid in LOST or Sam/Dean in Supernatural). That could explain why she was completely emotionless at first.
But her having this panic attack dosn't fit at all with this theory. So it looks like she just... can't control her emotions at all? Some times she dosn't feel a thing and sometimes she's overwhelmed by them? She lost her balance?

May does have emotions. Another type of PTSD like the start of the show after the Calvary Incident?
Did the Shrike damage Elena's Inhuman side?
Deke is now a moral center. Not convinced they're pairing him with Daisy but something is brewing.
Good comedy ep even if the plot didn't advance much.
Nice to see Sousa again even if it didn't answer any questions from the other show.

What if they fake Sousa death and he joins shield in the time travel adventure. They could stop at the battle of New York and have Sousa go under cover as a cop. In the eye of the people from the past Sousa died but actually he is in the future living with shield under a new identity.

It's been a while since Season 5 and I've forgotten how much of a cutthroat "scum" Deke was back then. I'm glad he's changed ever since he left the Lighthouse.
Also isn't it funny how the hell everyone can easily infiltrate the SHIELD base?
30

u/BornAshes Lemon Jun 11 '20
I've forgotten how much of a cutthroat "scum" Deke was back then
I wouldn't call him scum per say. He was a survivor. He was the guy that always found a way to get by no matter what was going on and that means he's basically Space John Constantine mixed with John Crichton. If he had to kill someone to save himself then he damn well would kill someone. He never really had someone else to care about though. Then he finds out more about his mom and his grandparents and he gets to meet his grandparents and he gets introduced to AoS and suddenly....he has a home and a place to care about and people to care about. Which ironically is also something that's happened to Constantine and in the reverse order to Crichton. Deke loves his family and last episode we saw him conflicted because Dad was telling him to do one thing but hot step sister was telling him to do another and he didn't know which one to listen to so he listened to his heart and his heart said, "Don't shoot a kid". Now he's seeing a different side to Daisy and is realizing, "Fuck I STILL have to prove myself to them FINE let's do this". Not everyone is going to have the same standards and he's working stuff out with each of them. I'd love to see him be the one to help May and Yoyo out. If anyone's seen some messed up stuff in their time and found a way through it, then it's going to be Deke.
60
u/norrin__radd Zephyr One Jun 11 '20
Awesome episode. I mean they could have dropped a hint on if Agent Thompson survived the series finale of Agent Carter but you know it's cool if they don't. Just looking for a bit of closure there...
Three episodes in and the team is in shambles. So that's on par with most seasons. That asshat is so the founder of the Rising Tide. I thought the waitress was evil but my guess is she's a skrull
PTSD May suffers ptsd. Yoyo still can't yo-yo. LMD Coulson 2.0 is offline and may be in Shield custody. (or SSR? Are they Shield yet) Enoch is on presumably on the other side of the country. Jemma is losing her British accent. And still no Fitz...
At least Quake, Mac and Deke are doing fine. I doubt one of them will somehow drastically alter the MCU timeline...
Can't wait for next week!!

Omg I didn’t even think... this will be the make or break moment for that Jemma is an LMD theory! Which would be strange, because she set the EMP off herself.. but it as a very desperate situation and I don’t think she would have been purposefully hiding it from the team.

That's what i was noticing. They at least dangling that thread longer for us, since they did not show Daisy or Jemma after the blast. At this point I think they are just teasing us. I think Maybe they created the technology in the framework so that time didn't pass for them the same, or maybe they used the chronicoms version. But I think it could all be red herrings because what doesn't make sense is if they came back in time to save the team, because the team died, then the team n shield wouldn't have fought against the chronicoms at the light house so why would the chronicoms go back in time to destroy shield because most of shield was fighting the (shriek )?

Let me start off by saying they are absolutely killing it with the tittle cards.
The episode was amazing. I thought last week was good, but it didn't have me at the same level that the premiere did. This one brought it back full force. The scenes with Souza confronting Jemma and Daisy pretending to be CIA where some of my favorites.
Most of all I enjoyed how they (once again) weren't afraid to address the racism & sexism that went on in those eras. The writers did one hell of a job. I don't think I could handle time travel unless it was to the future or no earlier than the 90s.
Lastly, I just really appreciate this community. You guys & gals are great.

For being filmed a year ago and set 65 years ago, a lot of the social issues raised are still as painfully relevant as ever
Sousa was great. Loved his interaction with Simmons and her slow realization that her cover was blown. If only she had an ICER so she could shoot a superior officer in the chest... again
Or else you will be... probed. And just like that, the timeline was restored. Or maybe they just bootstrap paradox'd the conspiracy theories

Legends of Tomorrow did it too in their 1950s episode in season 1,and they were even more hard on this actually. By the way its not really a new thing, all the american movies and tv shows made in the last 6-7 years that are set in the past, keep reminding us that people were racist. Again very enjoyable and love the whole team gets to do stuff. Sousa was great and Coulson/Simmons had the best bits.
I am still waiting for the Chronicoms to do something. So far they are just red shirts but at least they brought in that predictor lady so it gives them a bit more depth. Chronicoms seem a bit meh at the moment and the show deserves a great final villain.
I get they want to do things throughout time but I hope it's not just a cat and mouse game until the final.

That’s my biggest complaint thus far; the best SHIELD seasons have been progressive, episodes have consecutively built off of each other to develop the story. Now, we’re only 3 episodes in, but right now it just feels like each week is a new iteration of a similar adventure, which is fun on the individual episode level but doesn’t feel like it’ll lead to a cohesive final product. Hopefully next week changes that trend.

"You're Agents of SWORD"

I'm getting emotional, but I still can't believe this small but active fan base managed to help save the show from cancellation and gave 7 seasons. I still remember turning my TV on every single episode of S3-5 praying that the ratings would be good enough so they wouldn't cancel the show. And to have it came back for not one, but two seasons, was more than anything I could ever wish for. Season 7 is so amazing and it's up there with the LMD arc as the best of SHIELD. I love the cast and writers of the show so much, they're amazing people and they made a show that was an integral part of my life for the last 7 years.

This was by far my favorite episode of the season so far. I think watching 1 and 2 as a two-parter might serve them both better on rewatch.

The actor who played the captured agent always plays that type, but he is great at being an asshole, so why not?
The fight scene between May, YoYo, and the Chronicom was very good, and an interesting set up unlike any they have done before.

Just occured to me that the guy they had doing the replicant test was himself an android.

I hope that preview doesn't ruin the next two episodes. Not just the reveal but the narration gives it all away.

So did the shrike take away Yo-Yo’s powers or is it a mental block that’s preventing her from using them?

u/MediocrePrint Jun 11 '20
Idk she seems to be able to enter the state by seeing things happen slower but moving is different she still has powers it seems.

Sooo EMPs are the ultimate chronicom disabling weapon. Season over? Lol Jemma should just give every agent one

Watching this episode, I found the best word to describe this show : Effortless.
All feels natural, the dialogue is always on point, the humor and the action.
I just love it.

I like the turnaround on Mac for the next episode after Daisy wanted to kill and now the decision is saving a life

This final season is knocking it out so far. I love that we're getting different title cards based on the era that they're in. Fantastic episode with a great mix of humor and action. And I love having Souza back.

Watched Blind Waves reaction to this episode and Aaron said something smart.
The kid at the beginning who said he saw a flying saucer the day before saw the chronicoms

So I joked to my brother about the Voight-Kampff test and then Coultron actually did it! Nice.

Fantastic episode. I honestly thought Fitz would show up in the diner at the end, since he's next to it on the poster.
I honestly didn't care where Fitz was at first but now...like, where is he?

Another 10/10 episode. They didn't show Simmons after the EMP so im wondering if shes actually an LMD. If she would want to hide why activate the emp herself?
Im thinking they rebuilt the Chronicom mind prison to study Time travel or another Framework simulation.
Holy shit seeing LMD Coulson fighting and him in general is soo amazing. Love the synergy with Mack as leader. He doesn't care hes not Director, hes just: Yes Director.
Yet no Fitz, WHERE IS HE?
Yoyo seems to not only have psychological issues seeing as she literally froze in place. Shriek probably damaged her Inhuman Genes.

I'm right there with Simmons. Everytime Coulson does some robot shit I'm like "WTF?" for a second. Really cool robot fight this episode. I miss the big holographic shield though.

I’m just glad they basically confirmed on the show that Sousa isn’t Peggy’s husband because stans are annoying.

What a great episode, this season has thus far been enjoyable, let’s hope Sousa gets taken out of the timeline to join the team at the end of the next episode. Also here’s hoping for Mack’s sake that at some point they get to travel to a time period slightly less racist, which you know, may not exist

Yeah! Let's take Daniel Sousa to NY 2012. He can get a cop job there and live whatever remains of his life span in peace. Until the Chitauri invasion.

My guess is all the budget goes to later episodes where something crazy gonna happen.

Really fun episode!
Promo give the feeling of a stable time loop, think like harry potter. You may see someone die but it could be a body double in reality because they already knew that person was gonna die so they switched them out.

There were 2 lines I couldn't hear, can someone please clarify? After the scientist showed simmons the EMP and said it was only good for 30 feet, simmons said something snarky (involving a desk?) and what was Mack's last line "next time we will ____"? Thanks

Just noticed that the simmons from the poster is literally a screencap from the episode

WTF is up with Yo-Yo ? Feels like the shrike is an Inhuman inhibitor...
And May hyperventilating is unheard of. Everything is moving so fast...

Next moral dilemma: Sousa has to die so that Hydra can successfully infiltrate S.H.I.E.L.D.

This season is making this great series even greater. This is the perfect sendoff.

u/Lewkis1 Jun 11 '20
I gotta say, Clark Gregg is one of my favorite actors. His timing and delivery of lines is just so perfect.
Am I the only one that just really doesn't like YoYo? She's rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning. I feel like all she ever has going is self-pity and it's just gotten so tiresome to sit through.

Am I the only one highly questioning the lack of chronicom specific weapons after Jemma rigged up an emp in like 5 minutes and easily defeated all nearby chronicoms? Seems like with all that time Simmons had she could have easily come up with like a localized emp icer......

u/Altephor1 Jun 12 '20
If only the team had someone who could just rattle apart the chromicons with his or her mind. That sure would be handy.

u/joebocop89 Jun 11 '20
Best episode of the season so far.
Loved the Simmons accent gag, coulson blade runner reference and the white privilege humour.
They are just having so much fun with this.

u/the0dyssey Fitz Jun 11 '20
i feel like the way this show ends is ending s.h.i.e.l.d., and everyone gets a “normal life” except for maybe daisy and yo-yo if they bring them into the secret warriors in the mcu

I feel like the show ends by them accidentally creating the main timeline of MCU movies. That would be a very clever way to retcon the lack of snap in previous seasons.
