The B1G West lives on through Minnesota

61

u/acekingoffsuit Vikings 1d ago

KOC heard about Fleck out-Iowaing Iowa and decided he wanted in on the action.

22

u/jaysrule24 Colts 1d ago

Being on the losing side of two B1G West classics in one weekend is significantly less fun

A win is a win. No apologies.

119

u/Master_Bee_5350 Lions 1d ago

This is like a par for the course type of win this year for the Vikings. A single offensive TD, some FG, and the defense abusing the shit out of the other team.

35

u/gilbs24 Vikings 1d ago

The announcers where saying the Vikings winning with a score around 10-15 is par for the course

22

u/6ft3dwarf Vikings 1d ago

When other teams win a lot and always win the same way, they've found a winning formula. If that formula is "strangle them with your defence", you're frauds.

Vikings defense is legendary

90

u/OkFarm6873 Bills 1d ago

So is the offense... just in the completely opposite way. The defense hands them so many short fields every game and they're still only averaging 17 PPG in the last 5 weeks

Everyone loses when Will gets a kick blocked, we let our champion down 😢

35

u/ImagineIfBaconDied Vikings 1d ago

It was weird how Eagle and Tucker bashed the decision to kick there. It was 59 yards which is absolutely Reichard Range. Nobody expects him to get blocked though (unless there are camera wires in the way)

My wife is suspicious that I’m appreciating her team. She thinks it’s backhanded. It usually is, so she is reasonable. But it’s actually because there’s one other team that’s been my main team, the mid 00s Eagles.

Flores is the highest % blitzing coach since 2005. That coach in 2005? Eagles’ DC Jimmie Johnson, a man who knew how to make a fun defense.

It makes even low scoring games interesting because it becomes more chaotic, special teams gets used more, so good.

The Curse of Minnesota catches two perfect kickers and ruins their streak.

80

u/BillyTenderness Vikings 1d ago

When they put the Gary Anderson record onscreen I was like, "y'know maybe it would be OK for Reichard to miss one before the postseason"

29

u/PaintHeffer Vikings 1d ago

Got the jitters out of the way and hit the next one.

24

u/jfchops3 Vikings 1d ago

A blocked FG shouldn't end Will the Thrill's, he didn't miss the blockers did

17

u/Comrade_Falcon Vikings 1d ago

Honestly it's the best thing that could happen to us because you know that if Will the Thrill is sitting with a perfect season and the game on the line in the playoffs that it doesn't matter how good he is destiny would take that kick from him. This way, there's no dramatic irony at play in the postseason.

When we were 4-0 I was disgusted.

Losing more and more faith that KOC is some kind of offensive genius. Clearly a great leader of men / HC but I haven’t seen anything from this offense this year to feel like it’s anything special. Offense should not be this hard with Justin Jefferson.

54

u/BillyTenderness Vikings 1d ago

His greatest accomplishment is letting Brian Flores cook

15

u/kcoe24 Vikings 1d ago

Koc better give Will one hell of a Christmas gift for scoring all of his points for him.

34

u/MaruhkTheApe Vikings 1d ago

I've said this in more than one place, but his best ever offensive DVOA is 15th. Zimmer, who I'm pretty sure literally hates offense, averaged 13th with his teams. Pat Shurmur managed 5th with Case Keenum at quarterback.

He didn't call plays when he was in LA. He shouldn't be calling plays here.

17

u/MostBoastToast Vikings 1d ago edited 1d ago

Murray isn't elite by any means, or even good, but he isn't the WORST QB in the NFL. The offense continues to be less than the sum of its parts. The JJ McCarthy lead Giants just put up 27 on the Texans, that's more than the Vikings in 5/6 games this year. The Vikings offense is broken.

6

u/LedZacclin Cardinals Cardinals 1d ago

If the Vikings defense wills Kyler to a playoff run im gonna be furious. One of the least deserving guys to get that chance lmao

5

u/Daultongray8 Vikings 1d ago

To be fair. Today was a lot of Kyler. He missed a lot of throws.

5

u/Ajax_Malone Vikings 23h ago

If he wasn’t the OC everyone would want the OC fired! I really do wish he’d hire a play calling OC and turn the offense over to them.

16

u/daeshonbro Vikings 1d ago

Kyler was just ass today, the playcalling seemed mostly fine.

4

u/PokerChipMessage Chargers 22h ago

KOC has an uncanny knack of scoring just enough to win.

He never gets up two scores. If they get down two scores they immediately close the gap. And with two minute left in the game his teams almost always are taking the lead.

I'm sensing a pattern at this point.

5

u/LazarusRising22 Colts 1d ago

I don’t blame you. This Colts defense is atrocious and has a practice squad secondary. Yall should’ve put up 40 on us today.

Can someone explain to me why a great offense with a horrible defense is never seen as frauds but a generational defense with a bad offense is always seen as lucky and guaranteed to eventually fail?

43

u/CheeseburgFreedomMan Vikings 1d ago

Powerhouse offensives with crap defenses are called frauds all the time. We had a whole dynasty of those with the early 2010s Saints. Hell it's been the Lions calling card for the last 3 seasons

14

u/RNGezzus Broncos 1d ago

I mean, look at Dallas Cowboys the past three years.

15

u/realshockin Vikings 1d ago

Because even if you defense can shut the other teams to under 20 points, the offense should be able to get at least 21

15

u/Loose-Culture5811 Vikings 1d ago

This still doesn’t really answer it because the inverse is equally applicable. Just look at the Bills. They’re an elite offense with a future HOF QB and score like 25PPG in playoff losses, but the defense gives up 32.

This isn't the Vikings winning on flukey plays and just every bounce going their way. They've won every game pretty much the same way, Defense being absolutely suffocating creating short field opportunities, special teams being nearly perfect, and offense using every advantage given them to do just enough to win the game. It's their identity and it's not pretty but it's not like every week they're finding some new way to win.

People keep saying this, and it is unsustainable, and I actually hate watching these miserable fucking wins, but we have won 11 straight games at this point essentially doing the same atrocious thing over and over.

I don't think you can call that fraudulent or unsustainable at this point given the consistency.

But it is absolutely gross watching this team win football games even as a fan. They are not entertaining or fun.

7

u/teathree_ 1d ago

yeah i mean people keep saying unsustainable, but 11 wins in a row is as sustainable as you can ask. Whatever voodoo magic KOC uses to consistently win 1 score games, I dunno, but hes really good at it when the QB isn't impersonating a Subway employee.

I hate this division

I’m honestly starting to think KOC is the problem. Thank god for Flores

u/Thekota Vikings 1d ago

If 9 actually strings together some good games then it will be a bad look

5

u/Shingorillaz Vikings 1d ago

I don't know what to think of Koc anymore if I recall right even the Darnold year the offensive metrics were middle of the pack.

u/Eargoe Vikings 1d ago

He needs an oc. I believe he is great at the morale side of head coaching, but the offense is painful with how many points they leave on the field

Iowa Football is evolving!

Congratulations, your Iowa Football has Evolved into Skol Vikings!

u/ThatHotAsian Vikings 1d ago

As long as this defense keeps doing what its doing and Murray can string a couple good drives in the 4th, I'll take a devastating loss in the playoffs even though we were projected to be at the bottom of the division

u/MikeyJayRaymond Vikings 1d ago

6-0 for the first time since Brett Favre. Murray Magic.

u/Senate343 Bengals 1d ago

Danny dimes is so ass Kyler pulled out a win despite the new CoD releasing.

2

u/schwertfeger Vikings 1d ago

Offense is so fucking pathetic it is maddening. You literally only need to score around 14 points a week and it’s fucking struggle every week.

2

u/Birdir21 Vikings 1d ago

Some of the most depressing offense I've seen but we take the win

2

u/Weiland101 Vikings 1d ago

Maybe we are frauds and maybe we are not, but it feels like in 2 weeks we will know for sure. Will enjoy the 6-0 anyway.

2

u/MoreDronesThanObama Vikings Saints 1d ago

Yo how the fuck are we 2-0 3-0 4-0 5-0 6-0

2

u/h_t_h4 Vikings 1d ago

Not that you guys needed it anyways, but I give my permission for you guys to put us at like 15 in the power rankings (as long as we are ahead of the Bears since that pisses them off for some reason)

u/__under____score__ Colts 1d ago

Just making that fire sale more likely. Please, Mama CIG make it happen.

2

u/BucketsofSputum Vikings 1d ago

Just us and the Chiefs left, and no one could ever claim there's a difference

2

u/PapaSwoff Vikings 1d ago

Holy fuck if the Falcons beat the 49ers that would be the cherry on top of this win lmao.

2

u/clutchthepearls Colts 1d ago

And just like that the soft calls no longer matter

2

u/orangefrido18 Broncos 1d ago

So now the question is if the tear down begins that everyone has been speculating about with the likes of taylor

2

u/Supernova_Soldier Packers 1d ago

They can’t keep getting away with this

They can’t. This is horseshit!

2

u/Phill_bert Vikings 1d ago

As a Vikings fan, I at times hate this team. I can't imagine being a division rival who is a real hater. Must be so frustrating

Danny Pesos

In my opinion the Vikings are on track to a winning record this season

2

u/Crooked_Sartre Bears 1d ago

The Colts are not a good team

u/TheSyrupCompany Eagles 1d ago

Another week of Carly Rae Jepsen learning football!

2

u/Jonjon428 Dolphins 1d ago

This team is so similar to the 2009 Vikings team /s

2

u/mauro_membrere Broncos 1d ago

Vikings vs broncos superbowl les go

2

u/Iceman-Cometh_18 Bears Rams 1d ago

Colts are so pathetic

3

u/Master_Bee_5350 Lions 1d ago

This is like a par for the course type of win this year for the Vikings. A single offensive TD, some FG, and the defense abusing the shit out of the other team.

u/Crisis-Counselor Colts 1d ago

I hate my team. If I was a bandwagoner I would choose a different team but I can’t bring myself to do it.

Jones is trash. Steichen is trash. The Oline is trash. The whole offense is fucking trash.

This season is a wash. We need big changes. Big
